Soprattutto, durante la fine dei '60-inizio '70 si è finito dalla droghe. LSD se l'è magiato nella Factory con Wharol, magari ci ha trovato dentro pure Edie Sedgwich, chi lo sa. Dopo, nel 68, decide di spostarsi a San Fransisco, e lì le cose non credo siano andate meglio, in quanto a lucidità.

Ha sicuramente giovato in creatività: i suoi lavori trasudano psichedelia cosmica, avanguardia, oltraggio, sessualità, eclettismo. C'è di tutto.

Come non collegare il discorso arte grafica ad arte applicata. Vestiti da adorare. Subito. Proposte per l'estate, outfit rubati alla strada. Tutto, chiaramente, hippie chic

Transport for London is turning to graphic design to get people on and off the (baaaa) tube in a safe and orderly manner (baaaa).

This is a fairly old story now, but I felt quite sentimental when I read it. Even though I hated it. Netscape the browser is officially no more. It is dead. Long live Netscape. Or as John Cleese would say, "It's not dead, it's just stunned."

Again, this did the rounds a fair while ago, but if you missed it and you're looking for some vintage old school inspiration, check this out. I love old school design and paraphernalia, can't get enough of it. I am a hoarder though.

Now I search vintage websites for everything from art deco furniture to vintage T-shirts. Oh, and of course my T-shirt featuring a Betty Boop background is worn with my vintage denim jeans. Right now I'm on the look for some cool jewelry from the 50's to complete my look.

My most recent purchase was a vintage toy called a Sock Monkey. An aunt made one for me as a child, but it was lost along the way. Actually, I'd forgotten about it until seeing a vintage myspace layout on a website called Cleanupmyspace.com which featured a vintage background of sock monkeys. That vintage design, as well as one for Betty Boop, follows.

Economic success, ingenuity a recipe for a better environment

“……The relationship between environmental quality and economic success breeds ongoing improvement. Quantitatively, we know not only that higher levels of income promote environmental quality but also that the improvement in quality is better than a 1-to-1 ratio. That is, if income rises 10 percent, the demand for environmental quality rises more than 10 percent.

At lower levels of income, people trade environmental quality for economic growth - preservation of self is the primary goal, not the preservation of nature. But that situation can change quickly. In general, the annual income level at which the demand for environmental quality appears is between $4,000 and $8,000. The demand for water quality comes at even lower levels. Similar relationships exist for the preservation of endangered species and even the relatively obscure concern over carbon emissions.

Moreover, the point at which the demand appears trends downward as new environment-enriching technologies appear. Wealthy countries export the technology to poorer ones, who can simply acquire what they need to improve the quality of, say, water or air, at lower levels of income.

The economic progress so dreaded by the Malthusians turns out to be the key to environmental security. Because of economic growth, not in spite of it, the developing world is able to enjoy improved standards of living, both economically and environmentally, sooner than the developing world did in the past……..”
