Groovy Sessions партита се завръщат с пълна сила и за да потръгне всичко както си трябва, началото ще е знаменито! След като преди една година ни счупи от танци и всички запазихме съкровен спомена от вечерта, Robert Luis - собственик на Tru Thoughts и част от страшилището на клубовете - дуото ME&YOU (Robert Luis&TM Juke) - отново ще ни посети по покана на любимото радио предаване Groovy Sessions и един Господ знае какво нечовешко музикално изживяване ще ни причини и този път...

Ако си пропуснал миналата година, не допускай една и съща грешка два пъти, а бъди там - Sugar Club на 25. септември. Цялата необходима информация е на флайера, та нека не хабя излишни символи...

Last night was Lykke Li in the Sugar Club with the ever-delightful Ciara.

It's a good thing she was on that, because she was sold out, which I was not anticipating. The Sugar Club itself - well, it was me first time, and it was a lovely venue.

However, the gig was a danceable gig, and the Sugar Club, not so danceable. Besides, once parked beside some not-so-friendly males of the species, there was no way we were absconding our seats for the vague uncertainties of a tiny dancefloor.

But it's true - Sweden is the land of plenty. Lykke Li was everything I'd heard she was, and more; she danced, she sang, she rapped, she sang into a loudspeaker, which was amazing - she had instruments around her neck, like a travelling circus performer, with her entire kit enveloping her tiny frame. I did worry, for a while, about her body heat, what with the fact that she didn't take off her cardigan, but she must have been okay - maybe her headband conducted the heat out of her body through her cranium.

She was, quite frankly, mesmerising. Everybody felt it; I'm buying her album, I'd buy her perfume, were she to release one. But somehow, I suspect that's a route she will leave less-travelled.

Този четвъртък (03. април), както и в много други такива прекрасни четвъртъци, ние - нoсителите на groovy заряд и жадните за разтласкващи музикални night преживявания - ще съприживеем отново едно традиционно, но винаги по свой си начин различно съвoкупление с музиката на Groovy Sessions Radio Show в рамките на Sugar club.

Може би мнозина, останали встрани от честотите на радио Nova, които особено в 23:00 в неделните вечери зачестяват усърдно, не знаят...Но това е мястото, където музиката, която няма нужда от особени описания, а само от слушане и размекване на стави и хрущяли, гърми, трещи, тупти, гали, милва, превъзнася, щрака и недостатъчни стават двата крака!...

Be there, or be square

They have some great tunes and they played all of them tonight- as usual I am not great at remembering the order but from what I remember they played everything from the new album and quite a few from the older ones as well.  I think that the new album has the stronger music and that the older tunes just don't stand up as well. 

When they played the more popular ones the place had a excellent vibe and they sounded spot on- but they could not keep this vibe going and the gig had a start and stop quality to it.  However, what really gives me mixed feelings is that with music like this I would expect some expansion of the themes for a live performance and it left me disappointed that they played the songs exactly as they are on the album.  I am still not convinced that the Sugarclub was the best place for them either- the sound is good but the seating really is not great for a post-rock band and I think that having a white screen and a fairly lit up stage was distracting.  

Overall I think that this had the promise of being a great gig but with the lack of any exploration of their own music I think it was only good.  It has wet my appetite for seeing Battles in May though.
