Der Hollywood-Blogger Perez Hilton entdeckte den Song für sich - obwohl in den USA nicht veröffentlicht - und schwärmte in seinem von Millionen täglich besuchten Blog über Stefanie: "Hört Euch dieses Mädchen an! Sie sieht aus wie eine Mischung aus sexy Bibliothekarin und Schulmädchen und ihre rauchige, soulige Stimme ist zum Niederknien!"

Pünktlich zum Sommer und mit etwas mehr Locker- ja sogar Gelassenheit, die man nach mehr als ein paar tausend Tourkilometern und einigen Dutzend Bühnen später un weigerlich bekommt, bringt Stefanie Heinzmann mit „Revolution“ die nunmehr dritte Single aus ihrem Erfolgs-Debüt „Masterplan“ heraus.

Wie gesagt: Pünktlich (!) zum Sommer, denn obwohl es nicht einer jener klassischen Sommer-Hits ist, so hat der Song dennoch allergrößtes Potential sich schnurstracks in die Gehörwindungen all jener zu drehen, die ihm nicht entgehen können. „Revolution“ macht nicht nur unheimlich gute Laune, sondern auch sofort Lust zu tanzen – zaubert jedem ein kleines Lächeln ins Gesicht und verspricht beim nächsten Hören noch besser zu werden.

Soul che causa spontaneamente il clap, e molto più. E' difficile trovare le parole per raccontare quello che è successo in Piazza Napoleone dalle 22 di sera dell'8 luglio 2008. In tanti non se lo sarebbero aspettato, qualcun altro forse sì, tuttavia credo che nessuno fosse realmente pronto per un'esperienza del genere.

I musicisti [batterista, tastiere/rhodes, bassista, chitarrista, percussionista, flautista, dj+elettroniche] sono i primi a salire, e suonano un po' di buona musica per qualche minuto. Poi arrivano le 3 background vocals. Poi lei, Erykah, la analogue girl in a digital world, una regina etiope, *mancano parole adatte*, ..

Il suo portamento, la sua bellezza, la sua femminilità, il suo stile e il suo carisma mandano il pubblico in visibilio da subito. Per quel che riguarda i più scettici, credo abbiano mutato parere con le prime note che ha intonato. Penso non ci sia nulla che si possa aggiungere riguardo la sua voce, uno strumento unico che possiede solo lei e che ammalia, stravolge, trascina.

Lo spettacolo è veramente molto bello, lei canta, danza, compone batterie elettroniche, suona strumenti etnici [veramente bellissima la parte suonata con uno strumento a percussione utilizzato con una sorta di verga di legno inarcata], intrattiene, fa discorsi importanti, affascina con la poesia delle sue parole, si commuove, si inchina e manda baci per ringraziare, scende e fa cantare il pubblico. [c'è stata una naturale e ovvia invasione ad inizio concerto, durante "Kiss me on my neck"; è impensabile organizzare un concerto della Badu con i posti a sedere davanti al palco].

La scenario sotto il palco: un migliaio abbondante di spettatori in delirio, tra buoni fan [davvero tanti, ne son contento] e gente che non la conosceva ma che è stata decisamente coinvolta; c'era chi ballava, chi accompagnava ritmicamente le canzoni con le mani e chi faceva entrambe le cose, ed Erykah si è meritata minuti e minuti di applausi.

Per come la vedo [il live ne è stato una conferma], lei è già una leggenda ai pari di tanti suoi grandi colleghi "storici": a mio parere l'autenticità, lo stile peculiare e la sua indiscussa creatività e bravura non temono confronti con altri maestri che l'hanno preceduta.

Scegliere i momenti migliori di due ore e un quarto di live ad altissimo livello [!] non è semplice, sono certo che però non scorderò mai "Orange moon", con la sua delicatezza e dolcezza e un ottimo flauto, l'impegno e il coinvolgimento per "Soldier", il delirio per "Kiss me on my neck", "On & on" + "... & On", l'arrangiamento di "Appletree", ma anche "Time's a wastin'", "Bag lady", "Love of my life"..

E siete ancora in tempo per le altre date europee. ;-)

I'm not really sure what to post today. Got a few drafts, but I don't really feel like fleshing out any of them right now.

But I was listening to this classic soulful song for some reason not that long ago, so I may as well use it for todays post:

You probably already realise I'm a sucker for these of songs, and this is pure soul. Beautiful imagery, and heartbreak. Similar to "Diary" in a way.

Of course, I do have to ask why he keeps hanging around the urinals, and what possessed him to wear the black see-through shirt, or the green jacket with no shirt on underneath.

But there are some mysteries that we may never know the answers to.

As a child I build my sand castle lovingly, every stroke, every gentle pat reinforces my own belief.

My belief in myself, my strength, my creativity and my capabilities. These are mine to prove.

Then the tide comes in and washes my castle away, I cry unending in the warm arms of my mother.

She re-assures me, it was beautiful and I only have to build it again. How difficult is that?

Choose another place; one that is further away from the tide line and you will enjoy it longer is the wise diktat.

So I start building my sand castle again.

My enthusiasm, my youth, my optimism and once again its all about a reinforcement of myself:

My strength, my creativity and capabilities are once more mine to prove.

I move ahead with full plans.

This time as I build my sand castle I know more and I am more careful, I have studied the tide line. I have taken into account different probabilities and I feel invincible.

But...

Seasons change and the tide line changes. My sand castle is washed away once again.

This time there is only (myself) I to rely on, no place to cry and no arms for re-assurance.

So I start building my sand castle once again.

Now my maturity is only tinged with enthusiasm.

My creativity, my strength and capabilites are floundering. The weight of “what if” is slowing my progress.

Yet an inner voice tells me, “You know much more and understand technical probabilities better. All the experience of child hood and youth are with you.”

“Go ahead” says the voice, “don’t pause, there’s no time better than now.”

I build, pulling every last ounce of reserves together.

My sand castle is magnificent now.

I am sure it will stand the test of time. Every known precaution has been taken into account.

I am the queen of my castle finally. The castle endures all normal conditions. I soar higher with feelings of greatness. Of having finally beaten the sea.

But....

I do not enjoy the sunset any more. I do not wait for the sunrise either, all I do is watch the horizon, to protect my castle from being washed away.

I am the prisoner of my castle now.

Alas there comes an unprecedented storm, the tsunami and my sand castle is blown to smithereens.

I break down.

I have no tears left anymore. I feel like an empty shell. I do not even have myself for reassurance.

I recover slowly.

I feel healed after I have licked my wounds.

I come back with renewed strength. Stand at the tide line and finally I understand.

I am free. I can be the queen of my castle and not a prisoner.

I can once again build like never before. I have questioned myself and understood that I cannot build sand castles by the sea; I have to build mine away from the sea. That’s all there is to it.

So I start the processes once again. Maybe my enthusiasm is less, maybe the time is not right but the sand just keeps slipping. It will not build, not as I want it.

Then I realise:

A sand castle needs to be built by the sea, it needs the wet sand, and it needs the tide line and the beach for its magnificent completion.

I sink into that sand by the beach; I let the sea wash my feet. I watch the tides coming and going. I watch the sea re-generating itself. I watch the horizon change colours.

I pause. Not knowingly.

I start re-building my sand castle, this time smaller but with much more joy. I know now that it needs to be built here, right by the tide line for me to feel it; for me to enjoy it.

Sometimes, the tide comes in and washes it away. Another time it just leaves leaves the castle alone.

I cannot predict the tide line or the sea or the changes of seasons. They all have their nuances and nature’s quirks.

The horizon looks different with every sunrise and every sunset. I begin to revel in these daily changes. It feeds my creativity.

But I build with an unending enthusiasm and re build and enjoy the process of building much more than the process of watching and protecting my sandcastle. I use my strength daily.

The tide has finally turned.

It’s a mid-life awakening.

I am in a way freed from myself. Of having to prove myself. Of flanking my beliefs from crumbling.

I have given in. I have surrendered to the vagaries of nature. I have accepted the beauty that happens with every change of season; every tide that comes in and draws out.

Who am I?

Do I love just watching the sea and getting my feet wet?

Or am I the enthusiast who loves building and re-building that sandcastle? Knowing and understanding that the joy comes only from building?

I guess I am a bit of both, I love watching the sea around and resting on the beach. I also love the action of building that castle, as it stirs my creativity.

I feel re-assured by nature itself; that the tide will wash it away to leave me another clean bank to create on.

My Reality:

Yes, I do realise that this jargon applied to the mechanics of a real life is perhaps too stark.

Does it really help me to earn that coveted lifestyle?

No it doesn’t. But then that is my reality. I have discovered that my reality is not that coveted lifestyle but it certainly is the action of getting there.

I have also discovered that my happiness and joy are several notches higher since I stopped trying to keep the castle intact or in reality terms trying to predict the outcome of every action or project that I undertake.

In a way I am exactly where I want to be without the pain of trying to be there!

Das splash!- Festival 2008 geht dieses Jahr in die elfte Runde. Vom 11. - 13. Juli wird in Bitterfeld (nähe Leipzig) auf der wunderschönen Halbinsel Pouch wieder mit unzähligen Besuchern gefeiert, getanzt und die wunderbare Musik gehuldigt.

Neben einem gut organisierten und phänomenalen 3-Tages Programm, gibt es zusätzlich mehrere Partyzelte in denen nachts zusätzliche Show-Highlights und Auftritte internationaler Künstler geboten werden und man ausgiebig zu den unterschiedlichsten Musikgenres feiern kann. Großräumige Flächen und ausreichend Platz zum Zelten gibt es natürlich auch, wenn man das dann sogar auf einer wunderschönen Halbinsel in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Festival-Gelände vollziehen kann, was will man mehr.

Bisher konnten die Veranstalter schon viele internationale & nationale Künstler bestätigen, die aus der ganzen Welt - von Deutschland, der Schweiz, über Canada, Neuseeland, Jamaika und den USA anreisen werden. Internationale Superstars wie Jay-Z, Shaggy, Sefyu, Stress und Looptroop Rockers werden das Publikum ebenso mit ihren Auftritten beglücken, wie auch die deutschen Charts-Abräumer Gentleman, Culcha Candela, Jan Delay, Dynamite Deluxe, Kool Savas und Azad. Sogar lebende HipHop-Legenden wie Ice Cube, M.O.P., J-Live oder Sean P. (Heltah Skeltah) beehren uns mit ihrer Anwesenheit. Außerdem sind bisher auch die Ohrbooten, Damion Davis, Marteria, Little Brother, Mono & Nikitaman, Black Seeds, Swollen Members, Cecile und Blumentopf bestätigt.

Für ein abwechslungsreiches Programm mit einem musikalisch ein sehr breitgefächerten Spektrum, von Hip Hop über Reggae, Dancehall, Funk, Pop & Weltmusik und ist also schon jetzt gesorgt. Knapp 70 Acts treten jedes Jahr nämlich auf diesem tollen Festival auf. Man darf sich also noch auf viele weitere Highlights freuen, denn das splash! ist jedes Jahr wieder ein immenses Erlebnis, das man so nur hier geboten bekommt.

To be a Jew is to push back the darkness that plagues our world. We do not merely hold back the darkness, but push it back again and again, expanding the light of the world. We are tasked with delving into the darkness, surrounding ourselves with it, and defeating it.

But a Jew does not just bring their own light; the Jewish soul can kindle that same light in others who join it on its journey through life. We must push aside any darkness dwelling in a person, and bring their own light to the fore. It is in this way that we spread our light, pushing back and defeating far more darkness than we ever could on our own.

In our Holy mission, G-d has supplied us with invaluable tools - though, by far, not the only tools available. We have been given our Torah, our Mitzvot, and a world awash with muted light. Bringing this light to the fore is the task of every Jewish soul, though we each have our own methods for doing so.

To be a Jew is to be a Light Bringer. It is to brave the darkness of our world in order to bring its hidden light to the surface. It is to make the world a better place for our fellow humans. To be a Jew is to renew the light of our world.

Been very reflective the past couple of days (as you can imagine being all moppy and all). Nonetheless been looking at where I am and naturally wondering, what's next? That human eagerness to know the beyond. Then again, I know God pathed the way for me to be here almost 6 years ago. I know this is where He wants me to be right now but you know, I am flesh and blood after all? Ah I guess I'll just have to wait and see. But what really has been bringing me to tears is the line 'Break my heart for what breaks yours'. And, to me that is being out helping those who need it the most. I know it is the cry of my family's heart. I also know deep in my soul, for what God has put on our (my family & I) hearts, He will bring it to past. So, I wait with much expecations for what God has installed. Otherwise, He wouldn't put this deep earning for nothing... right?

I also must THANK GOD for what He has done in my life, especially the past couple of months. I came back from Tasmania to find very surprising results for my major papers that only God could have given. I cannot even begin to tell you how challenging it has been but God saw me through. Remember the lecturer I blogged about few weeks ago, I almost dropped off the bed when I saw the mark she gave me. Ahh..I wish I could give God a BIG MASSIVE HUG but I guess that will have to wait. For now, all glory goes to Him! And bring on SEMESTER TWO BABY!

It takes a lot of strength to stand in the frightening space of "I don't know." There's this push - by society, our families, ourselves - to have everything figured out and broken down into nice, neat little steps.

But, then life happens. Emotions come crashing in. Confusion swirls all around. And we find ourselves losing our grasp on who we thought we were and questioning everything.

And to that end I scream, "Hallelujah!"

Because we don't figure out who we are when we've got it all figured out. Nope. We learn who we are and what we're made of through that dark space of I don't know because it inspires us to open doors and windows into our soul.

We feel misery and we search for more.

We feel pain and we search for healing.

We feel confused and we begin to question.

So that we can discover who we really are beneath our careers, our roles, our clothes, our makeup.

And we are beautiful.

We are talented.

We are playful.

We are sensitive.

We are human.

And as much as I hate feeling confused, I know that it is a gift from God. It is a message from my deepest knowing that is asking me to slow down, shine that light of awareness, and throw open a new window. Yes, it's scary. And uncomfortable. But, it's worth it. Because pretending I've got it all figured out and hiding behind perfectionism is a death sentence I'm not willing to serve.
