Saw in The Star (yesterday's edition) that they (Soilwork) was gonna be performing in KL. and so, i went to check out their album online and dl to give it a try about this Swedish melodic death metal band. due to their recent changes in their music played, they're being consider to be in the metalcore genre, which is a fusion of hardcore punk and heavy metal. Formed in the late '95 and it's band name can be defined as 'working from the ground up'.

"Sworn to a Great Divide" is the 7th album from them, released last year and its first single from the album is 'Exile'.

Melodic death metal. Sounds like a contradiction but it works. If Soilwork put some shocking visual extra's in their music, they would be just as big as Rammstein. Maybe even bigger. But Soilwork doesn't. It's just the music. No image, no imago, no video.

From the coolest thing you will read today department;

While not quite as scary as WHITE SAND!!!!... technological singularity is an interesting topic to think about. The theory is that it will occur when we create a machine that is even slighty more intelligent than humans. When that occurs these machines would quickly improve themselves in ways that would be hidden from their creators, eventually overtaking them.

At first it seems far fetched, but after a little thinking it does make sense. If a machine is even slightly higher intellect than it's human controller, why wouldn't it do whatever it wants?

Anyways this is the best short story I've read in a while. It was written in 1956 which makes it even cooler. I mean in 1956 what machines did the author have to worry about, an abacus?\
