Some are of the opinion that flickr is basically  a photo-sharing site and  strongly feel that photoshop-manipulated pics should not be allowed in it. What do you say?

I feel that the greatness of flickr lies in its diversity. You will find that various artists, photoshoppers, other digital artists being increasingly encouraged by this incredible platform. flickr, as you all know, is one of the top web.2 sites. It enjoys great popularity not only among photographers but also artists, bloggers, people who actively participate in social networking.

I, therefore, believe that limiting flickr to photography is unjustifiable.

Recently, flickr has decided to allow videos (maximum of 90 seconds length and 150MB size) as well.

I have discovered a whole new world tonight. I heard about photostiching, but I had no idea. I was preparing to throw together a rough composite of three photos, taken by my Rolleiflex, to make up the large group photo of everyone at Claudia and Leigh's wedding, south of London in June. But with photostiching I just selected the photos I wanted, and 8 seconds later... I have this....(click the photo to enlarge)...

Amazing! Not really any seams, and it knew where I wanted to join the photos. Amazing. Thank you smart people at photoshop, I am a believer.

No blog de Sarthak Singhal, da Adobe, é possível encontrar link para a versão beta do Fireworks CS4 desde o dia 16 de junho deste ano. Também foram disponibilizadas versões beta do Dreamweaver e Soundbooth. Isso indica que em breve teremos novidades no Photoshop e no InDesign e nos outros softwares da suíte também.

Flash deve vir com novidades, afinal de contas, junto com o Flex, vai ter que brigar com cachorro grande e cheio de fúria: Silverligth, da Microsoft. Aliás, só o Flash, não! A suíte inteira tem que se cuidar desde o lançamento da Expression, também da Microsoft.

Para quem usa aplicativos para Web, vale a pena fazer o download e testar as novidades.

We will deal with this issue using the alternate definition of the word insourcing, since in theory, everything is possible. Since we are currently in America, this term will refer to transferring jobs to local contractors and facilities that are physically located in the United States of America.

This is an election year, and there is talk from both candidates about putting America back to work. Each candidate states their commitment to this but maybe small businesses can lead the charge for their respective industries. With supportive government policies, that are enforced, the number of jobs located in America just might increase.

For example, since free trade isn’t always fair trade, how about having product documentation targeted at the American consumer, written in America? Our company has rewritten product guides that were originally written in a country where English was not the first language. It turned out that outsourcing wasn’t appropriate in this case. In short, they had to pay to have the same work done twice. Where is the savings here? We don’t see any and neither do our clients.

Supporting policies and infrastructure may assist in avoiding issues like this and promote a win-win for both the corporate bottom line and the American worker. But this is just a theory, and in theory, everything is possible!

The only way for me to capture the shot with out the cats running was to take the picture through the  mirror, which was really dirty, so I had a lot of edditing to do with the picture. I used the clone tool in photoshop elements and set to work. its not a great removal of splodges, as there wasn't much 'clean area' to clone from.

This is a GIF image so you will see the before picture and then in two seconds it will switch to the after picture.

Well, ..... it seems that I have not had much to say or to write about this past year or so.
Have been busy with the family, busy keeping the business above water, busy creating a new body of work that I have yet to show anyone, ... just plain busy!
It seems that when I do write something here in my journal, I have been repeating myself.
Maybe one day I will have something new to say.

I was digging around my journal the other day and looking at various stats.
One stat that I have not looked at in a long long time were the most viewed posts that I have created since starting this journal.
It was interesting to look at those stats, some which surprised me.

Y aquí mi primer wallpaper hecho con Photoshop, tal vez no sea el más bonito pero si es el primer trabajo del cual estoy satisfecho.

La imagen se llama Trazos y pues como obviamente pueden ver son simplemente líneas y trazos, es de 1600x1200 pixeles, este fue mi primer experimento con el photoshop cuando apenas bueno sigo siendo un novato pero ya me salen mas bonitos y con mas calidad...sin mas que decir aquí les dejo la imagen.

What a fabulous resource for designers with many pre-made schemes from other users plus a simple upload tool to create your own from an existing photo. Not only can you play around with endless colour possibilities, but once you've put together a scheme you can download the swatches directly to Photoshop as an .ase file. Each swatch's CMYK, RGB, LAB, HEX & HSV values are displayed for easy reference.

Why am I only just discovering this now?!?! I can see this becoming one of those wonderful time-wasters...

Tras unos días de descanso sin realizar este post "casi dominguero" volvemos a la rutina y aquí os dejo otro consejo. :)

"Saber no es suficiente, debemos aplicar. Desear no es suficiente, debemos hacer", nos dice Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832), poeta y dramaturgo alemán, quien lleva toda la razón porque ¿cuántos proyectos tenemos en mente?, ¿cuántas veces hemos dicho "vaaaa, eso lo hago mañana que hoy no tengo tiempo"?, ¿cuántas veces ha llegado mañana y hemos perdido el tiempo vagueando de un lado a otro sin hacer algo realmente útil? Por lo que no es suficiente con saber cómo hacerlo, ni con planearlo, ni con desear hacerlo realidad, tenemos que actuar.

Seguro que habéis escuchado esto más de una vez: "No dejes para mañana lo que puedas hacer hoy". Así que ya sabéis ;)

Para concluir este post os voy a dejar un interesante vídeo de una "pintura" sobre Johann Wolfgang von Goethe realizado con Photoshop que a mí, personalmente, me ha parecido realmente increíble, no sabía que tal obra de arte se pudiera hacer con Photoshop. Espero que a vosotros también os guste

I found a good photo from Istockphoto and used it to create a line drawing in Photoshop. I'm just now learning how to work with acrylics, and I wanted to see what I could do. So I added some text, painted the first layer, and then began adding images and more words using tracing paper. Then a little more paint, a little scraping, and here it is. Hope you like it.

1. Prepare new file with dimension 400 x 200px and white background. Press D on your keyboard to reset foreground color and background color. Then put some text on canvas with font or size that you like.
   

1. Right click on layer text in layer palette and choose rasterize type. Now double click on layer text to show Blending Option.
   

   
   

2. Click Inner Shadow (not the check box) to show the blending option. Set Blend Mode: multiply, color code: #309837, Opacity: 85%,Angle: 90°, Distance: 11, Choke: 25%, Size: 23. don't click OK yet, more to do next.
   

   
   

3. Click Inner Glow and set Blend Option: Multiply, Opacity: 50%, color code: #004741, Technique: softer, Size: 8px, Range: 50%.
   

   
   

4. Click Bevel and Emboss and set Style: inner bevel, Technique: smooth, Depth: 100%, Direction: up, Size: 11, Soften: 4, Angel: 90°, Altitude: 67°, Highlight mode: screen, Opacity: 100%, Shadow mode: multiply with opacity: 0%.
   

   
   

5. Still in bevel and emboss option click Contour and set Range: 90°.
   

   
   

6. Now click Satin and set Blend Mode: overlay, color code: #60FF6B, Opacity: 100%, Angle: 90°, Distance: 38px, Size: 38px, Contour: Ring and check box Anti-aliased and Invert.
   

   
   

7. Last click Color Overlay and set Blend mode: normal, color code: #8AFF00 and opacity: 100%.
   

   
   

8. Your blending option window must be like image below than you may click OK. Your green gel text is done.

Photoshop is meant for photo manipulation. This means, you should probably open this one first to work on all of your photos and make them look as good as you can before going any further in the project.

Illustrator/Freehand/Corel Draw should be used for any graphics you need. From shapes and symbols to any elaborate vector drawings you may need for the final design. Try not to bring photos into this program as they can slow the program down to a snails pace and will probably not look as good as they do in Photoshop or Indesign. Illustrator also limits you to one page so it's pretty much useless if you are doing booklets or multi-page designs. Freehand allows multi-pages, but as it is a dying program, it is better to use Indesign for later editing.

Indesign/Quark Express are the page layout programs most commonly used. Most of the places that have been around for a long time will probably still be using Quark, while newer companies and places that have recently updated are more likely to have Indesign. This is where you take all of the stuff you made in the other programs and put it together to make your delicious design. Personally I have never done more with Quark than a basic tutorial and prefer to spend my time learning Indesign as it seems to be where the industry is moving, but I have seen plenty of ads for designers that require that you know how to use this program, so I wouldn't say that it is dead yet.

What program have I not mentioned? Word! Word processors are not design tools. I don't care if they have those nifty little templates and can accept photos, if you are ever planning on sending the work to a true designer, or even a printer, do not expect them to be able or willing to touch a .doc (word file). They will almost always rip out their hair, cry a little, than have to recreate the entire design if you send it to them this way, which can be impossible or nearly so. So DON'T USE ANY WORD PROGRAM FOR YOUR DESIGN!!! Seriously! Or I will hunt you down and break your computer.
