It’s been a decade since I started riding motor-driven vehicles. Until then, it used to be my favourite Atlas Rebel that I used to ride. My uncle in Poona presented it to me after I passed 10th. Bought it on a Sunday morning in 1992 from a shop on SP Road for Rs.1300. Friends admired the new fella saying "Super tyres, Chindhi look, maga!"

Drove from anywhere to anywhere on my Rebel until I finished college. A year later, bought a Third-hand TVS-50 XL moped. Enjoyed it for a couple of years, and then bought my first bike - Bajaj Boxer AT - days after 'Shabdhavedhi' was released. My girlfriend (now, my wife) used to love the long rides. Five years after I bought it, started getting a lot of back-ache. On the first day of 2007, went for one of those exchange offers and got Bajaj-Platina. Till date, I find it very comfortable and absolutely no back pain. Decent mileage.

Last fortnight, just to get out of the monotonous driving mode, came to office for a week by BMTC. The frequency of buses is very good. Buses are not too crowded, and conductors seemed very calm and patient. There is hardly anyone who buys tickets. Everyone says ‘Pass’. Remembered the bus scenes during my college days (I always travelled on footboard, of course to show-off) - people would get suffocated inside - and the conductor would keep yelling (at those inside) 'Mundhe banni' (come front), 'Chillare kodi' (give change) and stuff.  People never did both. Coming to the present, I hardly see guys on footboard, 'coz there's enough space for everyone inside. Also, the doors are closed once the bus starts moving. Anyway, footboard travel is bad.

After Bus-aata, now its Cycle-aata. Since last week, have started cycling to office (Malleswaram to Jayanagar). The drive is damn exciting, and I feel fresh throughout the day. I have started enjoying every bit of the ride on my favourite 'Rebel'. Had acquired my paunch after many years with great difficulty. But offlate, used to hate when everyone started giving more attention to it, rather than its owner. And during these inflationary times, didn't want my tummy to get inflated more.

Coming to office has become more exciting. What more, my boss is kicked up seeing my 'Rebel'! And wants to start cycling again. Also, now my son prefers the 'rounds' on the cycle, than the motor-bike. So after cycling home, have to take my son 'doubles' for a few minutes in and around Malleswaram. And he hates when I say - OK Boss, let's go home!

Just for the record, the very first vehicle that I ever rode was a slim red-tricycle, in the year when Rajkumar's 'Operation Diamond Racket' (remember 'Eef  you come today'?) was released.

Even NBC's recent Knight Rider backdoor pilot crossed over with Las Vegas. All Michael Scott has to do is show up wherever the new show takes place, and say "I can't wait to hear about all the exciting, sexy adventures you're sure to have against this colorful backdrop." It's just not that complicated, guys.

Daniels is one of those producers who just seems to be really good at dealing with network executives. Maybe that's because his wife, Susanne (sister of Paul Lieberstein, one of Daniels' best writers) is herself a network executive, and he knows how their minds work. But people from both King of the Hill and The Office have talked about how Daniels is willing to take advice from network executives where it's warranted, while saving the battles for the issues that matter, like this one. His rewrite of King of the Hill after Mike Judge's first draft was an example of that; Fox brought him onto the project to address some of the issues they had with Judge's concept, and his rewrite alleviated Fox's concerns -- by, among other things, creating Cotton Hill to make Hank look more enlightened by comparison -- and yet the end result was a very quirky and unusual show that was about as far away from focus-grouped blandness as you can get.

Einige Differenzen hatte ich mit meinem Computer. Jeder, der oft zwischen Mac und PC wechselt weiß wovon ich spreche. Vor allem die Tastenkombinationen stellen oft eine Geduldsprobe dar. Wird beim PC das @ - Symbol mit der Kombination aus AltGr (rechts neben der Leertaste) und Q geschrieben – so bewirkt diese Kombination aus der Apple Taste (an der Stelle wo beim PC das AltGr sitzt) und der Q taste den Befehl „Quit“. Speziell bei meiner Einschulung in Ljubljana sorgte eben diese Kombination für ein wenig Unterhaltung meiner Kollegen.

An die Sache mit der U-Bahn habe ich mich schneller gewöhnt als ich zuerst dachte. Einzig der Weg bis zur U-Bahn, welche ca. alle drei Minuten kommt, ist etwas mühsamer, da die Straßenbahn wie auch der Bus deutlich längere Interwallzeiten haben. Für die U-Bahn habe ich nicht nur meinen MP3 – Player sondern auch vor allem Podcasts zu schätzen gelernt. Immer nur Musik ist mir auf Dauer zu langweilig – in der U-Bahn etwas zu lesen ist jedoch auch nicht so mein Fall – so habe ich einen Weg gefunden die Zeit in der U-Bahn sinnvoll zu nutzen.

Es bleibt spannend wie sich ein normaler Arbeitstag von mir gestalten wird, wenn wir das Contextual – System gestartet haben bzw. vor allem auch, wenn die Sommerflaute vorbei ist…

Jam 2 pagi bangun. Sholat tahajud dulu. Mengerjakan tugas. Biasanya kalau gw bangun dini hari untuk mengerjakan sesuatu (nulis blog kah, nulis dokumen kantor lah, atau ehem ehem ... kekekek) sekitar jam 4-5 gw tidur lagi. Tapi ternyata tugasnya cukup banyak atau mungkin karena terlalu semangat, hari pertama itu gw gak sempet tidur lagi. Langsung nyambung, jam 5 sholat subuh. Jam 5.30 mandi, siap-siap ke kantor. Jam 7 berangkat ke kantor.

Jam 2 siang mata udah 5 watt. Ngantuk bo'. Harusnya gw tadi tidur lagi dulu. Jadi gak ngantuk berat seperti ini.

Sore kedua berhasil install:

Sorenya, gw pulang cepet lagi dengan niat nyambung kerja lagi di rumah seperti hari sebelumnya. Waktu di rumah, jam setengah tujuh-an gw tertidur sekejap. Hubby protes, kok menjelang maghrib malah tiduran. Gak tahan, pah.

Main sama anak2 lagi. Jam 9 tidur. Tak lupa alarm diset, tapi kali ini gw majukan sedikit (*agak pesimis bisa bangun*) , jam 2.30. Jam 2.30 alarm bunyi. Hubby dan gw terbangun. Tapi hubby yang mati-in alarmnya. Lalu tidur lagi. Gimana dengan gw? Gw sendiri gak kuatttttt ... gini nih akibatnya ... marathon di hari pertama, bayar lunasnya bisa berkali-kali lipat. Tau sendiri kan akibat kurang tidur. Misalnya kurang tidurnya cuma 2 jam ... eh ... ngantuknya sampe berhari-hari baru hilang. Dan gw pun mengikuti jejak hubby, tertidur lagi dengan suksesnya. Mana pake acara kesiangan lagi. Lengkaplah penderitaan, kerjaan gak selesai, bangun kesiangan. What a great pleasure!

Kayaknya gw harus mengatur waktunya lebih baik lagi. Semangat sih semangat bisa pulang lebih cepat tanpa mengabaikan deadline. Tapi kalo kurang tidur, akibatnya malah sewaktu di kantor jam-jam habis makan siang gw kurang produktif karena menahan kantuk. Dan peluang untuk sakit pun lebih besar. Mulai besok gw akan bangun jam 2 pagi tapi harus tidur lagi sebelum subuh. I will try that again.

• kalau bisa negara itu ada selisih waktunya dan waktu Indonesia lebih cepat dari mereka. Jadi waktu kita di rumah, mereka masih ada di kantor sehingga masih bisa berhubungan
• carilah suami yang bekerja di Telkom dan dapet fasilitas koneksi internet di rumah (heheheh ...)
• carilah perusahaan yang sistemnya bisa dipasang di notebook. Perusahaan gw menggunakan dua sistem, untuk HO make SAP, gak bisa diinstall sembarangan tapi ada fasilitas remote. Untuk kebun make sistem Harvest. Ini nih yang sekarang bisa diinstall di notebook.
