Alex Hughes's blog is only 400 views away from reaching 10,000 total views. From such humble beginnings its amazing to think that that many people have visited the site over the time it has been online.

Realmente es difícil describir lo que fue ayer NIN en el Poliedro de Caracas. Arrancaré siendo bastante sincero, no soy ni remotamente cerca de ser un fanático de esta banda, de hecho sólo conozco el "The Downward Spiral" y algunas otras cosas sueltas de otros de sus discos, sin embargo lo visto ayer no tuvo nombre, y si para mi fue así, no imagino como habrá sido para un verdadero seguidor de ellos.

En todo nivel estuvo excelente, la música, los visuales, la entrega de Trent en lo que cantaba, hasta incluso la organización, la puntualidad y el excelente comportamiento del público.

Desde el comienzo era ver y ver cosas sorprendentes, de verdad se lo trabaja el Trent y su gente, de hecho me atrevo a decir que las 2 horas continuas de presentanción de NIN han sido una de las mejores presentaciones que he visto.

Hubo momentos que de verdad fueron alucinantes, de esos que los ves y te paran todos los pelos o te dejan sin palabra, definitivamente fue mucho vas que ver una banda tocar, fue tanto ver una banda dando todo junto con un espectáculo que pocas veces o tal vez no se ha visto en el Poliedro y que probablemente este a la par de los mejores conciertos que pueda dar alguna banda contemporanea.

Aunque la verdad prefiero dejarme un poco de palabrería y mostrar más lo que realmente. Aquí me gustaría tener la ayuda de ustedes, voy a poner el setlist y me gustaría poco a poco ir armando el concierto en videos, así sea en youtube, vimeo o cualquier otro hosting de videos, incluso no sólo las canciones, si no también los intermedios y bueno tampoco caerían mal unos comentarios al final de sus impresiones.

Debo admitir que me hubiese gustado que incluyeran "Everyday is Exactly The Same" y "The Perfect Drug", pero bueno es difícil complacer a todos, pero igual como pueden ver tanto los que fueron, como los que no fueron estuvo increible.

Mención especial para Evenpro por la organización y a ViniloVersus que supieron defenderse bien en la tarima y ganarse merecidos aplausos.

I can think of three bands that have done this so far:

*Radiohead - Their album "In Rainbows" was released with a "Pay Any Price" option for the album -from $0 to millions, if so you chose.

* Nine Inch Nails - "Ghosts I-IV" had the option of letting you download the first 9 tracks out of 36 for free, then had a myriad of options for purchasing the album in different formats and packaging. Then, in May, Reznor released "The Slip" as a completely free download - meaning you could get every song without any strings attached.

* Girl Talk - Released the album "Feed The Animals" with the same tactic as Radiohead - pay what you want. If you chose $0, you were asked to select from a list of options why you decided not to pay.

With the major record labels losing money faster than ever, it leaves me wondering what they will try next in order to keep their bank accounts from hitting zero. With so many new methods of cheaper and more efficient methods of distribution, will they resort to jacking up concert ticket prices? Or will they do what The Eagles did with "Long Road Out of Eden", and sign exclusive deals with large chain stores so that the music can only be purchased at those locations?

Releasing music for free through the internet can also offer up a benefit to more local, small-time bands and musicians. With the extra attention they get for going the free or pay any price route, there we always be people that are not fans but will download the music because of it's "price". The band is now reaching a wider audience, and is likely to gain more fans through curiosity. Of course, this is only an option for these bands and musicians if they feel they have a big enough fan base so that they can still make enough money from touring to continue recording and booking arenas.

Musicians make more money from touring than actual record sales, anyway. ( Source )Considering that after the label gets their cut from a CD, and after packaging, promotion, and whatnot, there's not a whole lot left to be split between the actual performers, so obviously if you're paying $50 for a concert over $12 for a CD, you're definitely supporting the artist more than a CD. (Not that the extra revenue is bad)

All I can say for sure that I'm liking the future of the industry. The days where paying for music is mandatory seem to be coming to a close, and music will soon be more accessible to the masses than ever before.

But, a little update on whats going with me... DSC is going well i suppose, Ben and Chris moved away so i really don't have friends down here anymore, but its not to shabby.

Some fantastic news is that I am going to NIN in December. I have 2 tickets, gonna try and take my new girlfriend with me, but if she can't i dunno im looking to find a friend to come with me. I don't know how you could turn town a free NIN ticket... well maybe free if i like you enough...

No longer single also. :) Good ole Breana.

I have to recommend Six Feet Under, I just recently finished the entire show and it was amazing, one of the best dramas on TV.... wish it wasn't over.

Let see... movies i saw...

Appaloosa = See if it you like westerns, 3:10 to Yuma is so much better. I hate Renée Zellweger in that movie though and it most her movies... she is terrible.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist = Good movie, good soundtrack, worth your time, good date movie.

My Best Friends Girl = Terrible movie!!!! Ahh so bad... and i like rotten comedies. I love you dane cook but.. no way would i recommend this to anyone

Ghost Town = Such a good movie, worth anyone's time

Eagle Eye = Meh... so so...

Music stuff...
Senses Fail has a new cd,pretty good. Worth your time.

Oh so another great thing is that the blessed Red Sox beat the Angles and are now playing the Rays in the ALCS... Catch the game on friday on TBS! GO SOX!

Trent Reznor en el poliedro…

Si, empezamos por las conclusiones, el concierto de Nine Inch Nails en el poliedro, sencillamente, fue la mega verga más impresionante, coño e su madre, arrechísima y bestial que he visto en mi vida, me olvido de Motorhead (y duele), me olvido de Testament y Megadeth, me olvido de Korn, me olvido de Red Hot Chilli Peppers y demás, Trent Reznor es un maldito desgraciado que de su jodida cabeza saca las vaina mas recontra arrechas del mundo, uniendo visuales, un set list diferente a los conciertos que me bajé de youtube y unos visuales que sencillamente fueron IMPRESIONANTES… a NIN no los baja nadie del pedestal, bueno puede que los baje alguien… los mismos NIN si Trent cumple la promesa de rergresar, PORQUE EL COÑITO QUIERE VOLVER… pero bueno ahora si, vamos desde el inicio.

Luego de hacer unas vainas de trabajo, me esmacheto al poliedro, luego de calarme del CCCT a el Valle a punta de Salsa Matinée y un cambio de camioneta, pues me llego al Poliedro a eso del Mediodía, de pana yo creía que a esa hora ya iba a ver un gentío, pero no fue así, así que más o menos de primero y 6 horas de espera jodiendo y hablando paja con los de al lado para pasar el rato, me encontré al ilustrísimo Carlos Zombie en la cola, pero el iba para Arena y yo para General, igual pasó con Cleo, así que sorry otra vez será, al final me encontré con un pana de bachillerato que hace añales no veía y un pana de la universidad.

En fin a las 6 empezamos a caminar para el cambio de la entrada, que resultó ser el mismo tiquecito pero con la fecha de 8 de octubre, de pana no entendí mucho, pero bueno.

Entramos y a correr para buscar puesto, termine de suerte porque quedé al frente de la tarima, fue demasiado de pinga, fue como ir al cine, pero la película en mega sonido y todo el mundo de pie y gritando como loco.

En fin a las 8 se montan los teloneros, que resultaron ser los pana de Viniloversus, de pana no vi que pegaran con cola, pero los panas le echaron bolas, sin payaserías y con un set de 5 canciones y 20 minutos pues hicieron el trabajo, no les tiraron vainas y se fueron bien.

Y bueno de allí 40 minutos largos, muy largos, hasta que a las 9 pues pasó lo que tenía que pasar, se montó Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor, con Robin Finck y sus compinches nos dieron una soberana patada en la jeta, con un set list de algo así de 20 a 25 canciones y 2 horas que supieron a Gloria y sencillamente, BESTIAL…

Las canciones que tocaron, fueron más o menos estas: 1.000.000, Piggy (Exquisita), Discipline, Survivalism (yo pensé que iban a poner las imágenes del video… Pues no!!!! Colocaron las imágenes sacadas del concierto… QUE ANIMALADA) The Great Destroyer, The Greater God, pegada con Piñón y Wish (Demasiado ácido), Only con una visual del carajo que hacía desaparecer Reznor con solo tocarla, The Hand That Feeds, con una foto de Bush deformándose, Echoplex, con el jueguito del teclado virtual en la cortina, Reptile como la mega sorpresa, Head Like a Hole, Me and Not, The Frail y The Wretched, demasiado arrecha esa parte, Un Gave up desquiciante, Terrible Lie, March of the Pigs (el mejor momento donde la gente se volvió loca), y bueno para el final un Hurt hermoso cantado entre Reznor y nosotros y una que creo es This Twilight, con un final demasiado arrecho, Reznor en el medio del escenario tocando el piano, mientras uno a uno los integrantes se iban despidiendo dejando a Trent solo tocando y al final diciéndonos adios… alucinante final para la mamá de las salvajadas, Nine Inch Nails, lo que hizo ayer sencillamente no tiene nombre, Demasiado animal… he dicho

Nine Inch Nails - Beside You In Time (BYIT)

I mean the Josh Freese part, dummies.

To me, this signals the end of an era for Nine Inch Nails, namely the era in which they had a good drummer. I think the reaction across the NIN fanbase is pretty much uniform - shock and sorrow. Some of us (me) are taking it harder than others, of course. Anyway, once we've stopped kicking furniture around (or whatever it is Nine Inch Nails fans do to express emotion) we will invariably start speculating as to who Trent will bring in to replace the Freesinator. Some of the people on ETS have been throwing the name Brian Viglione around a lot. For those of you who don't know, Viglione played drums on NIN's Ghosts I-IV and is the current drummer for The Dresden Dolls. Note how I said current. Trent himself said that he doesn't know what he's going to do, so we can only guess as to whether he will hire someone who has toured/worked with the band before, or whether he'll go outside the NIN sphere of influence. If I had to choose anyone from the past touring members catalogue, I'd probably go with Jerome Dillon. But let's not talk about that now. The wound is still fresh.

More news once I've stopped crying into my pillow.

South America, thank you very much! We had a great time performing for you and hanging out in your neck of the woods. I promise we'll be back before long and again I apologize for the cancellations (those were OUR fault and not the promoter's).

On another note, Josh Freese fans be sure to check out a show on the upcoming North American leg of the tour, as sadly they will be the last ones he's playing with us. He informed me he's leaving the tour at the end of this year. Yes, we are still dear friends. No, I'm not sure what we are going to do.

Well now, the TMTS boys want you to remix "Yucatan Gold"! Moonbeams is a rich indie blend of textures that range from indie pop, to psych-folk and art rock. Yucatan Gold takes the album into an electronic direction, and proves to be the album's edgiest track. Full of drum machines, synths, and industrial lap-top layers, parts of the song are reminiscent of Nine Inch Nails, while others are what Weezer would song like if they went electro (do it!). I call it the "Sin City Effect". This is the second post during "Photoshop Week". I hope you all enjoy it. I am glad we are doing this. I like photoshop a lot as some of you know and would love to find a career where I could work with it every day. The possibilities are infinite.
