I never knew this movie if my sister didn’t recommend and force me to watch it. well, honestly

I never knew this movie if my sister didn't recommend and force me to watch it. well, honestly, at first I thought this was just gonna be just a drama musical. I would probably like it. I wasn't that enthusiast to watch this movie. since I don't have the movie, and I can't do torrent to get it, I was searched in YouTube just to get a hint a bit about the movie. I found some clips including the one that the father and the son were doing guitar duet together. I said, hmm.... that awesome. yet not that enthusiast but love tho hear the duet again. little bit curious about the movie knowing that I many comment in youtube said that this is a wonderful movie.

surprise, I went to city yesterday, had a meeting with my lecture to talk about our project research. After the meeting was over and I wanted to go home I suddenly realize I don't have small money to pay the bus. then I had to buy something just to get a change. I don't have any idea what's came to my mind I just ran to JB Hi-fi across the Queen Victoria Building (forget the name of the building). Searching the cheapest thing to buy, at first I wanted to buy "the whole ten years" (cause its only 10 dollars!!), then I realize, I might found august rush here. and I found it! okay, it was not as cheap as "the Whole 10 Years", but you know what.... IT'S WORTHED!!!

Indeed, it was a grate movie. mainly because of the music. I'd say this movie won't be this great if the music weren't this wonderful. the power of the movie was in the musics. without the musics, impossible for me to like the movie... wait no, love the movie! I like the idea of combining between classical and pop rock, kind of stuff. I'm not a music expert, but I do know when something feel inside me. I also like how the movie give me a new perspective of how we can play the guitar. the funny thing, though, was there were scenes that shot this boy (august rush) while playing guitar by slapping it, her hand looked bigger than his age. It did cool (the slapping) but, I can see the different. also when the hand gripped the string, it was full of power. well, it is impossible for the kid to had this strong power in gripping the string. Like I said, this movie is just gonna be a hilarious drama fiction if there wasn't because the beautiful music behind it.

beside that, I also kind of wandering why they made the ending like that. I'd think wouldn't it be more lovely if Layla played the solo cello that was written by august? the mother played the rapshody that had been written by her own son without knowing whose wrote that?! well, just a though.

"the music is all around us... all you have to do... is listen"

Sunday...and the magazine section of my Boston Globe is missing, meaning no crossword puzzle...I tried doing that number puzzle thing soduku <?> I don't like numbers, they have no soul. I knew someone once who read engineering books for entertainment, they knew numbers but not poetry, I prefer the latter.

Anyway I went to a beach bbq yesterday, which would have been much nicer if the sun had made an appearance, its been overcast and raining Friday, saturday and now today as well. This bbq was my freinds work hoo hah, but she works with fun people who get along....not like the monsters I work with....she does not have ONE vampire in her office, not one, no ghouls, no grey people, no ass monkeys, no one practicing salvation through rampant consumerism...I am in an odd place this morning, lets see if this will helpBar Harbor, hiking in Acadia National Park...no, that didn't help how about this

yeah that helped a bit...I think my weird mood comes from reading the story this morning about a homeless guy being beaten to death at noontime in Fanueil Hall, this is a very touristy place and very crowded...how does someone get beaten to death infront of a crowd of people...lets ask Kitty Genovese

Along a serene, tree-lined street in the Kew Gardens section of Queens, New York City, Catherine Genovese began the last walk of her life in the early morning hours of March 13, 1964. She had just left work, and it was 3:15 a.m. when she parked her red Fiat in the Long Island Railroad parking lot 20 feet from her apartment door at 82-70 Austin Street. As she locked her car door, she took notice of a figure in the darkness walking quickly toward her. She became immediately concerned as soon as the stranger began to follow her. “As she got out of the car she saw me and ran,” the man told the court later, “I ran after her and I had a knife in my hand.” She must have thought that since the entrance to her building was so close, she would reach safety within seconds. But the man was faster than she thought. At the corner of Austin Street and Lefferts Boulevard, there was a police call box, which linked directly to the 112th Precinct. She may have changed direction to call for assistance, but it was too late. The man caught up with Catherine, who was all of 5’1” and weighed just 105 pounds, near a street light at the end of the parking lot.

“I could run much faster than she could, and I jumped on her back and stabbed her several times,” the man later told cops.“Oh my God! He stabbed me!” she screamed. “Please help me! Please help me!” Some apartment lights went on in nearby buildings. Irene Frost at 82-68 Austin Street heard Catherine’s screams plainly. “There was another shriek,” she later testified in court, “and she was lying down crying out.” Up on the seventh floor of the same building, Robert Mozer slid open his window and observed the struggle below.

“Hey, let that girl alone!” he yelled down into the street. The attacker heard Mozer and immediately walked away. There was quiet once again in the dark. The only sound was the sobbing of the victim, struggling to her feet. The lights in the apartment went out again. Catherine, bleeding badly from several stab wounds, managed to reach the side of her building and held onto the concrete wall. She staggered over to a locked door and tried to stay conscious. Within five minutes, the assailant returned. He stabbed her again.

“I’m dying! I’m dying!” she cried to no one. But several people in her building heard her screams. Lights went on once again and some windows opened. Tenants tried to see what was happening from the safety of their apartments. The attacker then ran to a white Chevy Corvair at the edge of the railroad parking lot and seemed to drive away. On the sixth floor of 82-40 Austin Street, Marjorie and Samuel Koshkin witnessed the attack from their window. “I saw a man hurry to a car under my window,” he said later. “He left and came back five minutes later and was looking around the area.” Mr. Koshkin wanted to call the police, but Mrs. Koshkin thought otherwise. “I didn’t let him,” she later said to the press. “I told him there must have been 30 calls already.” Miss Andre Picq, a French girl, who lived on the second floor, heard the commotion from her window. “I heard a scream for help, three times,“ she later told the court, “I saw a girl lying down on the pavement with a man bending down over her, beating her.”

At about 3:25 a.m., Catherine, bleeding badly, stumbled to the rear of her apartment building and attempted to enter through a back entrance. The door was locked. She slid along the wall until she reached a hallway leading to the 2nd floor of 82-62 Austin Street but she fell to the vestibule floor. In the meantime, the man had returned again. “I came back because I knew I’d not finished what I set out to do,” he told cops later. He walked along the row of doors and calmly searched for the woman. He checked the first door and didn’t find her. He followed the trail of blood to the doorway where Catherine lay bleeding on the tiled floor. And there, while the defenseless victim lay semiconscious, incoherent from pain and loss of blood, he cut off her bra and underwear and sexually assaulted her. He then took $49 in cash from her wallet. “Why would I throw money away?” he asked the court at his trial. As Catherine moaned at his feet, probably unable to comprehend what had happened to her, the man viciously stabbed her again and killed her.

The man, who had selected his victim purely at random, ran to his car still parked where he left it. The entire event lasted at least 32 minutes. He said later that murder “was an idea that came into my mind, just as an idea might come into your mind, but I couldn’t put mine aside.” He jumped into his white sedan and fled the scene. A few blocks away, he came to a red light. He glanced over at the car idling next to him and saw that a man was asleep behind the wheel. The killer got out of his car and awakened the sleeping driver. He told the man he should go home. Then the killer, full of himself, $49 richer and not at all ashamed of what he had done, got back into his own car and drove off into the night.Catherine was his third murder.

Hey there Copious Notes readers! I hope everyone who's in the US had a great July 4th and everyone else had an enjoyable weekend. We're back to Sunday and that means another great song to inspire your writing. As always, I believe that songs can read as poetry and this week is no different.

Whether you like rock or not, Guns N' Roses came out with their epic November Rain in 1991. Taking up 8 minutes and 57 seconds of your time, this song is epic to say the least. It's also one of the most beautiful rock ballads out there. The song shifts from beautiful soft piano to hard rock and goes all over the place. It all comes together in the end and really sounds great. Even more impressive than the song's length and sound are the lyrics Axl Rose wrote. The song is truly a poem and every time I hear it, it invokes emotion in me. I hope it does the same for you.

From the album Use Your Illusion I, this is November Rain:

When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin' when I hold you
Don't you know I feel the same

'Cause nothin' lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it's hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain

We've been through this auch a long long time
Just tryin' to kill the pain

But lovers always come and lovers always go
An no one's really sure who's lettin' go today
Walking away

If we could take the time
to lay it on the line
I could rest my head
Just knowin' that you were mine
All mine
So if you want to love me
then darlin' don't refrain
Or I'll just end up walkin'
In the cold November rain

Do you need some time...on your own
Do you need some time...all alone
Everybody needs some time...
on their own
Don't you know you need some time...all alone

I know it's hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn't time be out to charm you

Sometimes I need some time...on my
own
Sometimes I need some time...all alone
Everybody needs some time...
on their own
Don't you know you need some time...all alone

And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain
I know that you can love me
When there's no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness
We still can find a way
'Cause nothin' lasts forever
Even cold November rain

Don't ya think that you need somebody
Don't ya think that you need someone
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one

2 girls of +30 at Rock Werchter
One thing I will never do again: go to a birthday party/house warming the night before you go to a festival. Especially the combination: drinks/talks/music/... Especially such a big ones as Rock Werchter. My legs were "light" and I had a headache when my friend called me awake to say she was already at the railwaystation and I was... still in bed.
So jump out, jump in some clothes, pick some fruit as breakfast and a hell of a ride with the bike to the railway station. When I arrived at the station I realized that I really had a headache :-( So from Bruges to Leuven and I didn't see almost anything: sleeping! We mist 3 gigs (I only know Panic at the Disco from these three).
Anouk was great. Especially the anthem "Nobodys wife". For the first time today (I forgot my breakfast fruit in the train) and post this message on the weblog.
What I really want to see are "the Kooks", Justice, Underworld and of course dEUS. Now I shut down the phone for the rest of the day.

Night of July 5th, 2008

The music department from my school went on a trip. We took an airplane there. I distinctly remember Adam L. and Doug B. being there. We stayed in a hotel, and, somehow, the movie theater from my town was built into it. I went to see "Wanted," by myself. I thought they would let me in because I worked there and they knew I was seventeen. The whole staff that was working sat behind a long, beige, marble counter selling tickets. I went up to one of the guys working there (I recognized him as someone I knew) and handed him my passport. He said something about needing "two signatures," and I was afraid I would need another form of identification. A lady I didn't recognize came out from behind the counter and told me I needed to take a driving test. It was raining, and she wasn't very nice.

I wandered around the hotel, and eventually wandered into a showing of "Wanted." I saw a bunch of boys from school sitting in the back row. One was the bassist from Doug's band (I think his name is Ian), and one was Nick B.

Later, I went to G's room. It was dimly lit; the only light was from a small lamp on an end table to the right of the bed. G hugged me and said "We're together now." I kept thinking about changing my relationship status on Facebook. I was pretty happy because G is adorable, but I couldn't stop thinking about K. I decided I just wouldn't tell him, and I would keep interacting with him as I normally would.

I'm just doing my assignments. I got a deadline on Tuesday and another on Wednesday. So far so good. I'm able to complete on time at a comfortable pace.

Yesterday's Singapore Urban Legends Tour with Thomson CC was great and definitely a very unforgettable one because I picked a very beautiful and nice durian in the forest. Heehee.. :D

My left eye is a bit pain. Feels like inside is a bit swollen when I close my eyes hard.

I need some air to breath. To release my stress...

I've had a read of some earlier posts and learnt something; posting while angry leads to breaking all rules of syntax and grammar. Very poor. I'm not in a great mood at all but working on the things that are probably contributing to it:

I have finally sorted out this whole directionless thing and yes - I am re-entering the education system and hopefully securing myself (down the track at least) a doorway into university.

The course is an RMIT one which TAFE took over some time ago, Communications & Media (cert. IV)

I've stayed in from Friday to tonight and applied for many, many jobs over the weekend. My desktop is littered with cover letters to various media and music companies for full time work. Sometimes, I was fortunate enough to come across low level media jobs available in the music industry - which is brilliant as it helps my education as well as my new amateur hobby.

It's probably bad form to mention this and potentially advertise it further (don't kid yourself, who reads your posts?) but the ABC program Rage needs an assistant video editor to do their admin and technical work. Extremely cool.

The other more achievable jobs include physical and admin work in a media library for Channel Nine, writer for a music booking agency, as well as working laborious stuff and sound engineer's assistant at a sound post production place in Pyrmont - which is the most promising, I'll admit. Then there's the heap of bars and the Enmore/Metro Theatre, which I have secured work with already but I don't want to rely on. I think it's time to be a nine-to-fiver just like the rest of you...right?

At any rate sorting out some decent, relevant full time work coupled with part-time study is no doubt a good thing. Late, but good.

Above: pointless graph to give creedence to something.

Stay safe.

When watching dramas, foreign or local, I always look forward to the music. Like in the movies, soun

When watching dramas, foreign or local, I always look forward to the music. Like in the movies, soundtrack is as important in setting the mood of a particular scene as let us say, location, so choosing the right songs for the drama is a must. No wonder in foreign dramas such as those in Korea and the US, there is an industry for producing music for tv shows. And we can see this in their shows. I remember how obsessed everyone were with the OC and Grey's Anatomy soundtracks. Many bands were launched into the mainstream in the process.

In the Philippines, where musical talent is as overflowing as its natural resources, a good soundtrack was a rare find. If we are just talking about the main theme song of a drama, then we do have a few hits but the use of songs in the drama itself was limited to instrumentals or foreign bands, if the drama was really unlucky almost none at all. Lately, however, with the hallyu phenomenon reaching our shores, I begin to see some improvement in how our dramas sound like.

Case point, the two dramas that I have been discussing in this blog. I have already mentioned before how I enjoy the music of My Girl. Incorporating some songs from the original drama (I think, it was the main theme, Never Say Goodbye, if I am wrong help me out here.), the majority of the songs that were used were mainly from local artists. And what the producers did was also arranged the main theme (My Girl and Sabihin Mo Na among others) as plain instrumentation to be used for emotional scenes. I have seen this with kdramas and the result was really good.

As for Ako si Kim Sam Soon, I would be surprised if they don't feature a song by Regine Velasquez because this is her show. And like My Girl, they put some songs by local artists but not as well produced as their rival. In as much as I like this particular song (Regine's rendition of Maybe It's You) and honestly I am not a fan of neither artists from the Kapamilya drama, I choose the latter in terms of how effective the music was used to capture the essence of the drama. At times, I do feel overwhelmed when they played Maybe It's You one too many times. I guess, they need to use more songs for the drama.

So this leads us back to the issue of how committed are these networks, and I am not just talking about the Kapuso and Kapamilya networks, but to those who wanted to produce dramas. Sure, there is no guarantee that a drama would be a hit just with a killer soundtrack alone but still viewers such as myself who like to get connected to the drama with the songs that were playing in it would like that very much. Honestly, most of the songs in my iPod are from soundtracks, it is that influential.

Another reason why there is the need for our dramas to take notice of their soundtrack, not just for economic and merchandising reasons, is because the Philippines my beloved is home to a lot of talent. I read about careers being launched in other countries because a particular artist was featured in the soundtrack of a hit drama. And it's not just ballads.

We tend to associate drama theme songs with songs of woe. This should not be the case at all times. We have a lot of bands and hiphop artists waiting to have their song heard out there. A hit drama is the understatement of out there. A drama has a lot of opportunity to put different songs in its entire run. An example of this is Coffee Prince, where even the song at the cafe, the ringing tone of a character's phone and even the song the characters were singing while drunk are mostly songs by their artists in Korea.

I am a firm believer that our dramas can really compete in terms of production value and talent (okay, not all our dramas under this one). One of the reasons I started this blog is to talk about our own dramas which is slowly been overlooked because of the arrival of dramas from overseas. Not that it is a bad thing really. Watching local dramas for the last few years, I have seen improvements hence my optimism that our dramas can really be better than the ones the networks are adapting. The main point should be that our producers take note on what makes their dramas much more enjoyable to watch. If the drama becomes a hit, it is a win-win situation for everyone.

你就是我的
想说爱你

我写了这首歌
wo xie le zhe shou ge
I wrote this song
是一首简单歌
shi yi shou jian dan de
It's a simple one
不复杂也不难唱的那一种歌
bu fu za ye bu nan chang de na yi zhong ge
Not complicated and not hard to sing, that kind of song

这不是那种童话里会遇见的歌
zhe bu shi na zhong tong hua li hui yu jian de ge
This isn't a song you would find in fairytale (Guang Liang reference)
也不是那种真真切切爱我的歌
ye bu shi na zhong zhen zhen qie qie ai wo de ge
And isn't a very vividly loving me kind of song (A-mei reference)
这不是那种
zhe bu shi na zhong
This isn't that kind of
两个人的故事写在一本小说
liang ge ren de gu shi xie zai yi ben xiao shuo
Two people's story written in a novel
那小说里有谁陪在看流星在降落
And in that novel who will watch stars falling with each other (F4 reference)

"Autumn Wind, a friend of yesterday" sang Le Orme back in 73-74. I just returned from the United States. I remember that in that summer, my friend Pierluigi and I, for the first time, we were on a stage with our guitars to play this beautiful song.

It was a fresh victory for UP Fighting Maroons Men's Basketball Team on their first game on the 71st season of UAAP. UP was expected to win since NU Bulldogs were a no-match to hungry players of UP Fighting Maroons. Most members of the UAAP commitee agreed on that thing as they were interviewed after the game. "Ang UP Centennial nila, naghanda yan, hindi basta basta magpapabaya." Taken from an interview with one of the commitees.

People haven’t forgotten their winless performance last year, and have used this to dismiss this squad as this generation’s version of last generation’s NU. However, the UAAP has a way of turning the tables on unsuspecting individuals.

A simple win is good, a couple of wins is momentous, but getting into the Final Four is nothing but a miracle for the men's basketball team of UP Fighting Maroons. he ya! Mananalo kami! ASA. =)

Too bad ADMU won. T_T Animo LA SALLE!

UP FIGHT!

[matatapang, matatalino, walang takot

kahit kanino, hinding hindi magpapahuli..

ganyan kaming mga taga UP!]

I got this the other day and it's funny because I was listening to the radio at this time. Shouts to Envy and Enuff. They were both at Club White House in the Hamptons this weekend for the white party. That's the reason I haven't been on221 for a few days. Spent time back in the 'hood and D.C. shouts to Sav for the many joints he sent my way, which I will update throughout the day.
