The Stanton Warriors and fabric records are pleased to partner for the next instalment of arguably the most revered breaks compilation series in action today - STANTON SESSIONS VOLUME 3.

Breaks genre pioneers, swathed with awards including Breakspoll Number One DJs, DJ Magazine’s Number One Breaks DJs, and DJ Magazine’s 50 Best Remixers Of All Time, the Stanton Warriors have had no time to hurry the hustle of the next in line in their low-end dancefloor breaks beatdowns. Their last edition, ‘Stanton Sessions 2’ was immediately voted Album Of The Year on Annie Nightingale’s BBC Radio 1 show which, added to the salutations following their FABRICLIVE 30 mix including Timeout Compilation Of The Year and Breakspoll Compilation Of The Year, meant the collective breakbeat breath was baited for Session number three. And while they’re still in the studio now putting the finishing touches on this highly anticipated release, come October, the wait will be over.

"Coming off the back of an absolutely mental worldwide tour schedule we thought it was the right time to drop another Stanton Sessions comp. It’s going to be the 3rd instalment of the series and contain all the unique tracks, edits and remixes that define our sound today. We have been playing and running our Sessions nights successfully at fabric for 8 years now, so it seems only natural to continue this partnership with the release of Stanton Sessions Volume 3." –Stanton Warriors.

Stanton Sessions Volume 3 is due for release on October 27, 2008
(USA release date 11/11/08).

The Stanton Warriors will be supporting the release with a world tour, kicking off with the album launch at FABRICLIVE on Friday October 24, followed by a date at the Amsterdam Dance Event, before travelling through the UK, Europe, USA, Japan, Australia, and South America.

Full album press release to follow

So the guy here posted a mix on Blentwell of some breaks stuff we can't really identify other than being just great. It's a mix of a bunch of techy-breaky-electricky-gluttony. Malone is based in South Africa and is the resident DJ for 6Th and Fairfax, his radio show on BijouBreaks.com, a Los Angeles based internet radio station. This is M Street, Yoshi Toshi record store, Nag Champa, sunny day music for your listening pleasure. Peep the tracklist...

Jeżeli przerażają Was ceny koncertów w ramach festiwalu Nowe Horyzonty lub szukacie imprezowej alternatywy na dwa gorące, lipcowe piątki G-punkt i PPS.NSMBL proponują:

EH MARINE PARTY!

EH MARINE startuje o 22, wjazd free.

[Jopparelli] Few months ago, we came across a fantastic mixtape of 90's hip hop remixes and b-sides...just the way we like it. We were quite surprised to find out that it was actually made in the 2ks.

This is how we started being into DJ Superix' work, and now we are proud of giving you a very interesting interview with a man which is about to enter Hip Hop history with his next project: a mix-up of ALL the Ultimate Breaks and Beats records...this is gonna be wild.

Well, here's the whole story, we hope you like it! Obviously our man has some goodies for you also... Hands up for the DJ!

Please introduce yourself to our readers...

Hi, I'm DJ Superix, based in london, UK and one half of a Southern Hospitality.

Which are your favourite years in hip hop? And why?

I love 1985, 1986, 1990, 1995, 2001, hang on a minute, this is a very hard question! I'll try to answer it in more detail though.

1985-86 was the time for me that really started to cement the hip hop sound together we know of today, up to that point a lot of the music had been heavily electro influenced, but i noticed people started to use samples more, and the sound changed from drum machines and studio played music to using samples of drum breaks etc, and you really started to here this going into 1986-87, with artists such as Eric B & Rakim, Run Dmc (who didn't seem to use hardly any samples before 1986). Anyway, I pretty much love most years in hip-hop, there's always been the records out there, its just its not always easy to find them. But 1985 was when I really started to get into the 'hip hop' sound, I was always into electro & rap music before that as I loved breakdancing, but as breakdancing seemed to die out, the music lived on and seemed to develop and keep going.

Favourite MC(s)?

Again, tough question! I love all the obvious ones, Biggie, Snoop, Jay-Z, Rakim, Tha Nutcracker from Group Home (only joking). But there are some that aren't so obvious, I was always a fan of the MC's who had the distinct voices, for example, Jay-Z and Biggie both have great voices for hip hop and other guys who came before them like Melle Mel, Slick Rick, MC Lyte, Ice Cube and I used to love hearing MC Ren on the NWA records, his voice was the standout for the group for me, but NWA all had those great distinct styles. There are so many to name its impossible!

Favourite Producer(s)?

Jeez, you're questions are hard!! Well, its tricky, alot producers who have made great tracks go through ups and downs. I guess the most prolific and consistent producers that I would name are: Dr DRE, Timbaland, DJ Premier, Kanye West, The Neptunes & Organized Noize, although I wasn't that aware of them until much later. But I would easily add to that some that are so often overlooked: Swizz Beatz, Marley Marl, DJ Toomp, Kurtis Mantronik – who I have added for making my personal favourite beat of all time Just Ice's 'Cold Getting Dumb'! But there are so many new guys that I like, but I'll save that for another day!

Best hip hop album of all times, in your opinion?

It gets tougher... Ok, in no particular order I'll name 5 without thinking too hard:

Snoop Doggy Dog – Doggystyle
Public Enemy – It takes a Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back
Run Dmc – Raising Hell
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince – He's The DJ I'm The Rapper
DJ Quik – Quik Is The Name

I'm not sure if i would say the same off the top of my head tomorrow or next week, its so difficult, there's so many.

Who is the DJ that inspired you most when you started? And now?

Easy – that would be DJ Jazzy Jeff. without question, I think he's quite possibly the best DJ there ever has been, he's both a pioneer and innovator, he's never disappoints, he may not be the best producer, but as a DJ he kicks ass. If I was to say who's most inspiring now though – its a very biased answer, but its my main man Rob Breezy. In a club situation, he can pretty much rock any crowd, he plays great music and always inspires me to step my game up musically more than anyone else. Oh, I must also mention London's Shortee Blitz, you should check him out if you are ever in London.

Which mixtape (by another DJ) is your favourite of all time, the one that inspired you most?

This is a tough one, its not particularly by 1 DJ. Its the whole of the Electro series released in the 80's by Streetsounds. Those mixtape's / compilations are the best mixtapes of all time. The tracks are incredible, and the mixing, although a lot of it is done with studio equipment, will never be beaten.

Your "Lost & Found" mixtapes rock, that's a fact. But you sure did a lot of other mixes over the years. Which is the best in your opinion, the one you're more satisfied with?

The lost and found ones were really something i did to compile a load of tracks I really liked that had a similar sound and feel. I love all those remixes from the mid 90's and the rare stuff that never quite made it to the radio. Me and my DJ partner Rob Breezy are doing exactly the same thing now with our 'Coast to Coast' compilations and also 'The Hits You Missed 2007', taking the stuff that you may not be hearing and compiling them into 1 solid mix that people can check out, saving them the time to go searching for all that stuff and also trying to prevent people from saying 'hip hop isnt as good as it used to be' which I hear so much, the truth is, it is as good as its always been – you just have to work harder to find it – or download our mixtape's! The mix I'm most satisfied with is my newest – 'Ultimate Ultimate, Ultimate' a 2CD mix of EVERY Ultimate Break (thats over 160 on 2 CDS) Its been a very long time in the making and a lot of the routines and sets are some that have taken me years to get right!

You're playing in a club, and you suddenly realize that is the coolest situation you've ever played in. Beautiful spot, full of gorgeous ladies dancing in the crowd, massive sound system, everything is perfect! Which record do you put on the plate in that precise moment?

Ha Ha – well, these days it would have to be 'Be faithfull' for no other reason than the fact that everyone will always go nuts. Either that or something like 'Mo Money Mo Problems', something big, that appeals to everyone.

Which musical styles you're into besides hip hop?

Everything. There's probably something I like in every musical genre. I'm not a music elitist in any way. I'll freely admit I like something if I think its good.

What are you listening in your car right now?
I've really just been listening to The Dream's debut album & Lil Wayne's 'The Carter 3' and anything with T-Pain on!

Which equipment do you prefer for playin? Vinyls, Serato, CDJs or Software? What do you think of the recent evolution of DJ equipment?

Serato is the best without question. Its the only one that truly reminds me of using real records, you can do everything you could with vinyl & much much more! I love the new technology, it means I dont mess up my records anymore and I dont have to carry 5000 records with me. Its also great because with the music I play, its so hard to prepare a box for a night, as you are always reading the crowd, if something isnt working, then you have to cater to what is going to work. That was always hard with a box a records as you could easily just fill it with the same old guaranteed club bangers, but there's not much excitement in that. Its much easier for a DJ of say House music or Drum & Bass, because its pretty much all the same tempo and you are mixing the same beat over and over and people will dance no matter what.

Hip hop pioneer Phill the Soulman during an interview at Masscorporation has stated: I take more of an issue with the fact that people are still using the term"Hip Hop" when they talk about current rap than I object to the actually music that's being made today. I just think it's a different thing, that's all. [...] I will never understand why you have people today who ride for this stuff yet still want it to be labeled as "Hip Hop". Why would you care? Why would you get your draws all twisted just because somebody states that "Hip Hop is dead"? Be proud that you're doing your own thing and creating your own legacy... Do you agree? You have followed rap over the years, what do you think about the changes? Where do you see hip hop going?

To me, its not changed all that much, a lot of people are always going on about 'its all about money etc etc these days' but if you look back over the last 25 years or so, songs like the ever popular 'rappers delight' were boasting about financial gain, and NWA always talked about guns, but for some reason or another the people who love those records are saying all the negative stuff about the newer artists. There's people who will say 'the best years in hip hop was the nineties' or something like that because that's when they really started listening to hip hop and nothing can replace that newness of the hip hop scene to them again. So they get mistaken by saying that era was the best ever. I have been listening to hip hop / rap music, whatever you want to call it, since 1983 when I was a small kid, and I was excited by the fact it sounded like nothing else out there, and unless I get into a new form of music that is totally different to anything else today, I probably won't experience that feeling I had as a kid again. Its just people get older and reminisce about the good old days thinking it was the best time ever, and sometimes forget to enjoy the present too! Do you see what I mean? I don't usually get into the politics too much, I just listen to the music like I always have done. I still get excited by great records like I used to, for example last year the Dogg Pound released a record called 'Cali Is Active' and when I heard it, it was the same sort of feeling I had when I first heard 'I get around' by 2pac, I thought it was amazing. But that's just one example, I'm always hearing new stuff that I like. Hip Hop hasn't changed as much as people think it has!

Do you follow UK Hip Hop? What do you think of it?
Not really, I think the whole 'uk scene' over here is fairly introverted. It still thinks its the nineties and still rips of DJ Premier style beats. But I do like the breakaway artists like Dizzie, SWAY, Wiley and I think Estelle is very talented and its great she's doing so well.

In the UK, Hip Hop and MC-ing evolved also into something different: you have MCs rappin over Drum n Bass, UK Garage, 2 Step and Grime tracks. What do you think about that scene? Do you like some of that stuff?

As I mentioned, Dizzie, Wiley etc, is the only think I feel can compete with the US as its our own sound, its not use trying to be something else, that's what I feel is the thing that will push the UK forward.

With you being a deejay, talk about some funny thing you went through to get your music...

Well, when I was a student, I was unable to afford to buy a lot of records, so I used to just stock up on lots of baked beans that costed 9p a tin, and only eat them for weeks so I could buy a new 12”, over in the UK, US import 12” would always cost close to £10 and I had to get my doubles!!

Not the most original title I could come up with, but I hope that ayigbeboy's album art will make up for my lack of creativity.

This mix jumps back and forth in time, blending some breaks and newer (mostly sampling) songs together. Didn't have a detailed concept or anything, the only thing I wanted for sure were the opening and closing tracks. All other tracks where choosen as I went diggin in my virtual crate.

Track Listing (download: mix)

Greetings all.

I hope everyone had as excellent a Fourth of July weekend as we did here at Funky16Corners central. We started things off on Thursday with a most excellent fireworks display, following on Friday with lobster and corn (a July 4th tradition in the Grogan household) with the rest of the weekend spent engaged in all manner of rest, relaxation and good times.
The edition of Funky16Corners Radio that I bring you today is one that’s been percolating in what the folks at Soulstrut refer to as my “private mind garden”. Compulsive mixmaker that I am, ideas for new podcasts are constantly being picked up (and often subsequently dropped) and filed away for future reference in the dark recessesof my fevered brain.
As it is, this podcast is based on an old mix CD I made a few years ago that concerned itself with ‘Cissy’ tunes, all sprouting from the UR Cissy tune, the Meters ‘Cissy Strut’, itself based on a dance step.
I was going to turn that into a podcast (and may yet), but the recent acquisition of a few covers of Meters tunes changed my course and Funky16Corners Radio v.52, Message From the Meters (concerning itself entirely with covers of that band's ouevre) was born.
The Meters first hit the charts in January of 1969 with ‘Sophisticated Cissy’. It was a few months later that they had their biggest hit with the original version of ‘Cissy Strut’, which was an R&B Top 10 hit (Pop Top 20 in many markets). They ended up scoring a number of other R&B hits with singles from their first two LPs.
The Meters intricate Crescent City funk was both popular (thus the ease with which one might acquire their 45s today) and hugely influential, with ‘Cissy Strut’ being covered many times by soul, jazz and funk artists*. As you’ll hear in today’s mix, it wasn’t the only Meters tune to be covered.
The first track in this mix – which it bears mentioning is a departure from our vinyl only policy as it (and the Johnny Lewis track) was never issued on vinyl – is a cover of ‘Cissy Strut’ by a man I consider to be one of the great unsung heroes of the Hammond, Mr. Labert Ellis. Ellis, who operated (like another great organist R.D. Stokes) out of Compton, California, recorded one amazing 45 (‘Dancing In the Streets’ b/w ‘Batman’ on A&M) in 1966. I’ve researched this 45 and from what I’ve been able to turn up it may never have seen anything but a limited promo release in its day (it seems as if the catalog number on the 45 was eventually assigned to another record). That was – for a long time – all I was able to find out about Ellis, until I received an e-mail tip a few years back that a previously unissued 1971 session by Ellis had been released on CD by guitarist Arthur Wright (who had played in a trio with organist). When I finally got my hands on the disc I was thrilled to see that one of the tracks was a cover of ‘Cissy Strut’. That cut – and the rest of the CD – is proof that had he gotten the opportunity, Labert Ellis very well might have gone on to compete with the finest organists of the day. As it was, he never recorded again. Dig the throbbing bass, which is actually Ellis working the bass pedals on the organ.
The name Grant Green should be familiar both to jazz fans and regular visitors to the Funky16Corners blog. He was one of the finest guitarists of the 60s and 70s as both a leader and as one of the busiest sidemen in the Blue Note stable. His cover of ‘Ease Back’ is from his 1969 ‘Carryin’ On’ LP, a personal fave of mine. Green (along with keyboardist Neal Creque) takes ‘Ease Back’ at a relaxed but funky pace. If the OG is too rich for your blood, get yourself a reissue of this album as it is one of Green’s best later sessions with smoking versions of Creque's ‘Cease the Bombing’ and James Brown’s ‘I Don’t Want Nobody To Give Me Nothing’.
Johnny Lewis was a Seattle-based sax player who recorded for a number of labels. The sought after ‘Shuckin’ and Jivin’ LP (originally released on the local Jaro label, also home to the Overton Berry Trio), which pulls major coin today was fortunately reissued (with bonus tracks) a few years back by the good folks at Luv’n’Haight. One of the aforementioned bonus tracks was a version of ‘Cissy Strut’, recorded live at the Trojan Horse restaurant in Seattle in 1972 (also issued more recently on the outstanding ‘Wheedles Groove’ comp). Dig if you will the extensive drum breaks and tasty clavinet.
By far, my favorite Meters tune, and a recording that I would (on certain days, as these things change all the time) go as far as to nominate as the funkiest of all time, is ‘Cardova’. I had searched far and wide for a cover of same, and for years assumed that there were none. Until that is I happened – during some random browsing – upon a reissue 45 that contained not one, but two older Jamaican versions of Meters tunes. One of these was a cover of ‘Cardova’ by Syd Jones and the Troubedours. I haven’t been able to track down any info on this record (other than that Jones was apparently from Barbados) , including whether or not it even had an original release. No matter, Jones takes the heavy bass line of the original, slows it down a step or two and whips up a heavy, heavy cover of an already heavy tune.
If you needed any proof that ‘Cissy Strut’ had crossover success, you need look no further than the cover of the tune on the Hoctor label. The Hoctor label was home to a series of dance instruction records (mostly non-funky, with a few notable exceptions) meant for use in dance schools. The identity of the musicians on this 45 have been lost to the sands of time, but the funky groove they laid down is still with us today. Despite the fact that this was intended for leotard clad dance students, the organ and drums manage to be quite tasty indeed.
Organist Leon Spencer recorded a number of excellent soul jazz sessions for the Prestige label. 1970’s ‘Sneak Preview’ was his first album for the label and included his cover of ‘Message from the Meters’ (as well as a version of the Presidents’ ‘5-10-15-20’). Spencer works the Hammond, ably assisted by none other than drummer Idris Muhammad (a NOLA homeboy of the Meters during his childhood days as Leo Morris) and guitarist Melvin Sparks.
Earl Van Dyke led the Motown house band the Funk Brothers on both organ and piano through the 1960’s. He recorded a number of 45s on his own (all worth grabbing) as well as two LPs. The first 1965’s ‘That Motown Sound’ was composed entirely of Motown covers. 1970s ‘The Earl of Funk’ was still mostly covers (as well as recycling his excellent 45 ‘The Flick’) but Van Dyke moves away (somewhat) from Motown to cover a number of contemporary hits, among them the Meters’ ‘Cissy Strut’. Van Dyke’s version features some wailing organ as well as a funky horn section (as long as you can get past the dubbed in audience noise).
The mix closes out with the flip side of the Syd Jones 45, a little number entitled ‘Moon Invader’ by Tommy McCook. As anonymous as Jones is, McCook’s is most definitely a well known name. The saxophonist was leader of Jamaica’s first great recording band, the Skatalites and McCook appeared on countless ska, rock steady and reggae sessions throughout his career. After the Skatalites he went on to form (and record with) the Supersonics. ‘Moon Invader’ which is actually a cover of the Meters ‘Look a Py Py’ is not the same as the song 'Moon Invader' recorded by organist Winston Wright (though I wouldn’t be at all surprised to find out that it’s Wright - who played on the Harry J All Stars ‘Liquidator’ - playing on this). McCook takes the New Orleans funk and lays a little reggae flavor on it.
I hope you dig the mix, and I’ll be back later in the week with some goodness

Peace
Larry

*I have a few other 'Cissy Strut' covers that I'll have to post in the future

OK as people get to know me better you will understand I have a true passion for Soul, Funk, Downtempo & Hip-Hop (the intelligent stuff) Katalyst is one of those artists that manages to combine them all the way a chef turns ingredients into a tasty meal. Here's what the Herald Morning had to say about his new album;

This album will cement his place as a king of the hip hop underground and he'll stand tall beside Madlib, The Procussions, Mark Rae, Ohmega Watts and The Roots. There's none better.

Okay, so we know Katalyst's first album Manipulating Agent was amazing. It's a fact.Lots of artists get it right the first time around, there's no pressure, no expectations, you can work at your own pace. And alot of them manage to balls the second album up, the attention does it to them, they're not sure of who they are now that they're in the spotlight. Did this faze Katalyst? No, thank God. He took it all in his stride, spent roughly three years getting it right and his new effort, the probingly titled What's Happening, is just so many light years ahead of anything else on the table it's just not funny.

Let's consider exactly what exactly is on the table: the US is pushing monocultural cheese around the globe, yeah Kanye is pretty dope but predictable; the UK;s a grimey place right now but no one's scaling the Roots Manuva heights are they; we've got the Hoods and Elefant Traks mob making big waves down under but I'm sorry, their stuff still significantly trails the stunning productions of Sydney's very own beat maestro, on a soulful level they just can't compete. Katalyst's tunes simply transcend the competition, he's a composer rather than a mere beat writer.

I had one of those days today where I was thinking about life beyond my own.

When I grew up, I was an all out card-carrying Republican. I believed that the US had the best ideas in the world as far as the way to live. I never for a moment questioned this. I believed in it and I lived it. I campaigned for it. The American way was the ONLY way. When I was 19, I moved to Europe. And for many years I held fast to my beliefs about life in the US being the best for quality etc. I was completely outraged at European culture and often scoffed at its backwardness and joked about it being 20 years behind the times. Women shopping for fresh food every single day? Every single Sunday making a dinner the size of Thanksgiving where it was expected that everyone in the family would ALWAYS attend without fail? Sitting down at the dinner table every single night and eating at home? Were these people completely insane? God, give me a McDonald's!!!

I even moved back to the US after living abroad for nearly 10 years and gratefully embraced my return. Only something funny happened. It was almost like a shock to my system. Suddenly I found that I didn't really fit in to the US thinking and culture. All of my belief systems had changed, and maybe just maybe there was merit to the way other people think.

It first happened when I started to discuss world politics with my friends and family. I was completely shocked at how ill informed or not informed they were about the world around them. Trying to get real news in the United States was beyond difficult (this was before the days of the Internet). Even CNN wasn't a decent source of world news.

I started to look around me and saw that no one ever took a vacation. If they took time off of work, maybe it was to go see family, or to stay home and get some neglected home maintenance completed. The vacation of a lifetime was a trip to Hawaii, or possibly a cruise once every 10 years or so. Weekends were the substitute. People loaded up their camping gear and their RV's and went away. But first they had to buy all of the supplies, food, gas, etc, pack it all up and race in the traffic so that they may have a day and a half to enjoy it, before starting back to the regular grind.

Living in Europe, we had vacations of either 6 or 8 weeks every year. That does not count public holidays which are truly holidays and everyone except essential services has them off. Those vacations were used for what they were intended. We would rest, relax, and enjoy ourselves. We traveled the world and thus would shape who we are as people and gain new experiences which could be brought back and shared with others. Our personal batteries were refilled and our relationships with each other strengthened. No one in Europe owns RV's of any description really. Every vacation is spent enjoying the pleasures of another country and lifestyle. If some type of RV is required, it is rented for the short amount of time that it might be used. No one really even bothered to own their own skis as there are always advancements in ski technologies and you wouldn't want to be caught with the skis that weren't the latest. Yet everyone I knew had a ski holiday of at least 1 week every year. We aren't talking rich people here. We are talking the average Joe. The one with two kids, a mortgage and etc. They also have a summer vacation too. Every single year. Gosh, how would that be? Wealthier people (I guess you would consider us in this category) would have several vacations per year.

Looking at the U.S. 2 weeks a year seemed barbaric! And some people had less than that! Also the work week was different. In England, we worked 37.5 hours in a week, not 40. My own family in the U.S. worked 12 hours a day 5 days a week. This includes my mother. That is the norm, and that is what they are used to.

Suddenly I began to question: Is this really healthy? Do we in the U.S. get enough rest? Can we possibly be as productive when we are over exhausted? Aren't we more prone to making mistakes? Don't those mistakes cost time and money?

The more I questioned this idea, the more my thoughts formed regarding this subject. And this is what I came up with. This is the defense I had for the American people when others came to criticise them for being ignorant of the world around them and lazy enough not to care.

The American people are basically good. I believe people in general all over the world are basically good given half a chance. Sure there are some that are evil, but for the most part, people do what they believe is right. (Poor Will Smith tried to make this point and nearly got hung by the media). I think that the American people do care about the world around them. I think that they do care about their starving and warring brothers and sisters. And they care about injustice in the world.

This is the problem. First of all, Americans work far more hours than most other countries. It is ingrained in us to work longer and harder to get ahead in life. We are told that we have to achieve, and strive to do better than our parents before us. We take that very seriously. So, it goes like this. We need to have a house at least as big if not bigger than our parents, probably one that we cant afford. So both partners have to work to afford this dream home. When the children come along, they are placed in daycare while the parents are at work. Parents get off of work, drive the hour in traffic to rush to pick the kid up from daycare and then run them to soccer/ballet/piano lessons. When they are done with that, its run through the drive through for dinner, then homework, baths, getting the children ready for bed, getting ready for the next day, and then finally settling into bed to watch a half hour of the news before spending quality time with their mates (possibly even a bit of sex) and then catching some sleep. This of course isn't including paying bills, getting housework done, family obligations, or other miscellaneous errands/duties/responsibilities that are always nagging. The next morning its grab some toast and run through Starbucks on the way to drop the kids off to school and drive that hour in traffic to get to our jobs that we spend our lives working at to make ends meet.

So just when is it that we have time to care about anything else? When do we have time to read books, develop ourselves and our own personal thinking, be intimate with our partners or have the energy to think outside our own lives? We don't. Its all about keeping our heads above water.

The companies here in the U.S. lie to themselves about giving their employees time off work. Time = Money. How many times have you heard that saying? I challenge that thinking. Anyone knows that working smart is way more profitable than working hard. Don't they? Aren't well rested, better personally adjusted and rounded employees better than stressed out, exhausted and resentful ones? Wont experiences of the outside world help your business in the long run? Are companies in the rest of the world less profitable that have these good practices?

I thought it was interesting when my husband said to me today "I don't think that any company should be allowed to fly the U.S. flag if they do not pay their employees for Jury service and Civil service". I say here here to that one! How many people can afford to take time out of work unpaid to serve their country/state/county/community? It is our right and obligation to serve as a jury of our peers. Why is it that companies feel that they can put the entire financial burden onto the employee for such a service? It seems crazy to me.

Tell me, what is the point of having National Holidays and no one getting them off? Doesn't it just cause people to feel resentful to the very few who do? What is the point of that? And, the children get those days off, but the parents don't? That creates all kinds of logistical problems in today's society. Who is going to take care of these children while the parents work? Oh I know, why don't we use up some of that vast amount of vacation we are given to do those things? Make ourselves just that little more exhausted.

I know I'm sounding like a bleeding heart liberal to all of you right wingers out there. I'm not. (My own mother will probably die a thousand deaths and disown me after reading this post) Im talking about the economy of common sense. The common sense that is actually not too common. Changes need to be made. We need to think differently about our lives. We need to slow down and give ourselves some time to think, explore, learn and enjoy. We need to smile more and work less. We need to not be so worried about being perfect. We need to be able to have time to understand our government, our world and ask questions. Then and only then will we be a true democracy and really be free.

There are many studies out there that back up what it is I'm saying. I'm sure you can also quote hundreds at me that disagree. I'm just talking about my own experience and thoughts here. Maybe this blog post will help you think about your own thoughts on the subject. I hope it does.

Jow mensen.. ik heb weer nieuwe releases :P

∆ Anthony Rother - My Name Is Telekraft - 2008

∆ Cern - Voodooguru Tense Passed - 2008
Een drum&bass

∆ Otto Von Schirach - Oozing Bass Spasms - 2008

∆ IMPS - Bring Out The IMPS - 2008
