وفي بداية المحاضرة وصف الدكتور إسماعيل سراج الدين، مدير مكتبة الإسكندرية، جيمي ويلز بأنه أحد مخترعي القرن الجديد وبأنه عقل ذا رؤية، وأشار إلى أن مكتبة الإسكندرية تفخر بأن تحتفل بالندوة المائة في منتدى الحوار وهي بمثابة احتفال بمسيرة مائة ندوة هدفها حرية التعبير وإتاحة المعرفة. وقال أن وكيبيديا هي نموذج جديد للمعرفة ووجه جديد لها.

Disclaimer & Warning!!! I suggest you listen to this on your PC speakers and using low volume. I'm not an expert sound editor / mixer. And this is an example....

This week has been challenging but certainly more fruitful and gratifying. I finally came up with a temporary solution for my voice, that is - I decided to have a little help from a friend named Peter. He is a Text To Speech "TTS" engine and what a relief he's been for my voice.

Now Peter introduced a new challenge, and it was to learn a new technology, how to use it and adapt it to my needs. I have to play for a while with him and teach him a couple of things like how to pause. We work on his speech pitch, speed and yes on his pronunciation.

Then it was time to get dirty. I had to work on the music and the sound that meant editing, mixing, cutting, normalizing, noise reduction and a whole lot of other things that I can't remember right now.

I'm going to let you hear the first "raw" going and then you'll be able to compare it to the edited version so you can get an idea and hear the difference. Sorry to put you thru this! - But I think it's necessary to get a good perspective of the process.

Creativity was definitely my best partner as I went along with the process. Also, the following:

That bastard. Out with his whore again. She walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge. Grabbing a couple of carrots and an apple, she moved to the counter and began chopping them to fit into the juicer. June had been on the juice only fast for three days, and though her fingers were starting to take on the color of oompah loompahs, it was highly preferable to the extra ten pounds she had been lugging around. Of course, Jerry would never notice the weight loss or the orange coloration. She couldn’t remember the last time the two of them had spent any real time together. Not since the whore came on the scene.

June shoved the carrot pieces into the juicer, pressing them down a bit more violently than intended. The gadget responded by sending a small spray of orange up into the air. June watched as the drops showered down on her countertops. Great. Something else to stress about.

“Mom, can I have some juice too?” Alex asked as he raced into the kitchen and opened the fridge. “I want some juice and a sandwich and maybe a couple of cookies.” June didn’t care. “Eat whatever you want. I’ll make you some juice when I’m done with mine. Did your dad show up at practice today?” Alex nodded his head up and down, as June sighed in relief. At least the jackass did something right. “He was there for the warm-ups, than he took off. Said he had a meeting and that he’d be home real late. He told me to tell you not to wait up.” Alex paused for a breath and continued. “Mom, why does he always have so many meetings? He didn’t used to be gone all the time. Did he get a promotion or something?”

June focused on her juicing, thinking to herself. Great. Now I’ve got to explain to my son how his dad has a girlfriend and would rather spend time with her than his kids. Screw that. I’ll do what he does. Lie. Turning to face Alex, she said, “That’s right honey, daddy got a promotion. Less money, more work. Because your dad is so good at what he does.”

“Less money, more work? That doesn’t sound so good,” Alex responded.

“Learn from his mistakes Alex. Your family is the most important thing in the world.”

Alex nodded and returned to his sandwich fixings. June reached into the fridge and pulled out some more carrots and apple for Alex’s juice. She just wanted to crawl up in bed and cry. What does that bitch see in her husband? He’s an addict, just barely off the pain pills. He hasn’t worked in years. June wondered if the whore knew that all their assets were in her name and hers alone. They had done that for safety back when he was trading stocks. Since he took up with the bimbo, she had been slowly draining the accounts and moving them into new and different places. Let him find them. Ha. She wasn’t about to be the laughing stock of the neighborhood.

Lana kissed him one last time before he walked out the door. It was already 1:30 a.m., and she couldn’t understand why he wouldn’t just spend the night. He reached for her naked body and she shimmied back, “No way. If you’re leaving, no touching.” Jerry smiled at her, “I’ll be back for more tomorrow. I love you.” She softened at that, “I’ll see you tomorrow. I love you too.” And she did. With all her heart. He was the best man she had ever met, and she couldn’t believe her luck. The only drawback was that evil wife of his, June. Every night, like clockwork, despite her best efforts and outfits, he left at 1:30 to go home. Saying he didn’t want the kids to wake up and not find him there. Kids my ass, she thought. Those kids are seventeen and twenty. They’ve got to realize their mother makes him insane. Why else would he be popping all those vicodin? When Jerry’s with her, he rarely takes anything. A couple of glasses of wine, but who doesn’t drink?

Walking back to the bedroom, Lana paused to pick up a wineglass and drink the last few sips. Foolish to let it go to waste. Placing the glass in the sink, she walked to the bathroom and smiled. She looked good. Those implants had done wonders for her life. Best five grand ever. She padded into the bedroom and fell asleep, dreaming of Jerry.

Driving the ten blocks home, Jerry popped two vicodin, knowing by the time he got home, it would kick in and he’d be able to fall asleep. That Lana was something special. When he was with her, he felt like he was the big man. Not like the whipped puppy June had created. If only he could find a way to move the money back into his name, or at least into a joint account. He hated being dependent on June for every dime, but that’s exactly how it seems. He had a couple of small accounts hidden deep, but not enough to escape her grips. Plus there were the kids to worry about. Alex has enough issues, what with the figure skating and all. How the hell did he create a boy figure skater. That kid’s going to need a fortune in therapy. Sighing, he wondered whether Lana had anyone else in her life. He was so worried that she would toss him, he made sure to spend as much time with her as possible, so she wouldn’t have a chance to hook up with anyone else.

Sex with Lana was special. She needed it as much as he did. Not like June. June would be totally content having sex once a week, and she would never let him do the things he did to Lana. He’d tried, but June made it clear once Alex was born that from then on, sex was just an obligation, not any kind of pleasure for her. Bitch. She was his wife. She should at least try and enjoy it once in a while. Jerry tried to remember the last time they had sex. It had to have been eight months or so ago, right before he had met Lana. It was amazing how much different the two women were. Lana was all curves and voluptuousness. All about pleasure and lust. June was about austerity and severity. There was no joy in that woman.

Jerry yawned, surprised at how tired he was. After eight months, he was used to this routine. But somehow, tonight, it was harder to focus on the road. He fidgeted in the seat, only seven more blocks. I can do this. By the time he pulled into the driveway, he was shot. Instead of getting out of the car, he passed out in the driver’s seat. Alex woke him up the next morning. “Dad. Dad. Wake up. Why are you in your car?” Jerry made some feeble excuse and stumbled into the house. June gave him the death stare as he walked upstairs to shower and shave. How much more can one man take?

and this is where it gets interesting. suddenly, he's no longer painting, but he's playing on his mobile phone. next thing a number appears on the projection, and a word to SMS to the number. so we all frantically SMS, and receive a text back instructing us to find the 'Live Unbuttoned' truck, which is apparently parked nearby. we spot it in seconds and run across the road and bang on the door. a young guy asks me to show him the text message, and next thing i have a brand new pair of 501s in my hand. fantastic!

if you want to get your hands on a free pair of 501s, i've heard that there will be more laser shows in and around Cape Town. And Levi's, if you're reading this, please tell me why you didn't throw any girls jeans into the mix? Because as rad and as cool as this stunt was, i can't wear a guy's cut, which makes it a bit of a let-down. How about something for us ladies?

George Monbiot is the author of the best selling books Heat: how to stop the planet burning; The Age of Consent: a manifesto for a new world order and Captive State: the corporate takeover of Britain; as well as the investigative travel books Poisoned Arrows, Amazon Watershed and No Man’s Land. He writes a weekly column for the Guardian newspaper. He lives in mid-Wales with his daughter Hanna.

During seven years of investigative journeys in Indonesia, Brazil and East Africa, he was shot at, beaten up by military police, shipwrecked and stung into a poisoned coma by hornets. MBC "Good Day" will follow Alex as he goes to Canada to visit his parents and family

This special episodes (45 minutes per broadcasting) will be shown next Monday and Wednesday, July 21 and 23 at 9:45am.

On the 21st, the program will follow Alex's busy activities in Seoul, Korea. And on the 2nd broadcasting date, July 23, it'll show him visiting his family in Canada, spending time with his siblings, friends and family.

Earlier this month, Alex went to Canada to attend his brother's wedding. He even sang a song for his brother at the wedding. For the last five years, Alex was kept busy working in Korea, after his Clazziquai debut. And after working hard promoting his first solo album, it's nice to see that he had some time off to visit his family in Canada. It'll sure be interesting to see how his life in Canada was like through his family and friends.

His visit to his parents' house, preparing for the first breakfast together with his mom, all these segments will be shown on the program July 23. Alex's brother and sister along with his friends in Canada will also share some of their stories of Alex and their childhood memories.

Some of Alex's celebrity close-friends such as Sung Shi Kyung, Crown J, Solbi, Loveholic, Horan are also invited to his home in Korea, and they'll reveal some secrets of Alex's true self.

Basically, a fan by the name of Miss Kim Eun Jin made a "video capture" of Alex and Shin Ae's wedding album at a MBC Fair (my guess is that the album was used by the related studio/shop for promotional purposes) and this fan took a risk in "recording" it and then sharing it on her Cyworld minihompy.

It's infuriating the amount of things they didn't show us in the episode itself! Scenes of the other 2 couples going through their wedding album was shown in last week's episode and so you ask, why was Alshin's one not aired?

AlShin must have had a great time doing the photoshoot that day. Just look at these photos and the concepts that we never got to see! And it's incredible how many other photos were NOT included on the album itself.

It's pretty sad that all these wasn't aired at all during the program. But at least deep down in their hearts, AlShin know it more than anyone else what had happened. Credit must go to the fan for the video and the photographer.

LONG AWAITED SNEAK PREVIEWS OF DOUBLE DATE WITH HWANG-BO AND HYUNG JOONG:

Shin Ae said with a smile, 'I also have a lot of awkward moments.' In reality Alex is not her husband, so if they're not awkward then it would not be honest. Shin Ae and Alex are still not very close privately, 'I don't even know Alex's phone number so we haven't contacted each other even once yet.'

Since they only meet for the recording of the Korean variety show "We Got Married", Shin Ae feels burdened when fans analyse that she is intimate with Alex, especially when elders think they are actually married.

But Shin Ae adds, 'If I have the opportunity, I would like to go to the theme park with Alex through "We Got Married"'. She reveals, 'Even though we've been to Nan Mountain to look at flowers, but we haven't been to the theme park. I would definitely want to visit there.'

Side Rant: Once again, contradictory information on whether they're close or not!! ARGH I'm sticking with the 'we're close on and off screen but got cut by the PD' version of events, but it's still nice to see Shin Ae taking a bit more initiative about getting to know Alex!

Alex has admitted that his character was made by the production crew. He said "We have a lot of fun moments like Crown J and Seo In Young but those moments were cut as what the production crew want is the romantic couple".

But he said even though their concept was made, what they show in the show is all natural without any kind of scripts.

"Even though there are many cameras around us we are not bothered and just be normal. I think that is why many people are enjoying the show. If it was 100% scripted, we would have gotten the Daejong Movie Award".

"Other couples tend to look alike each other and they have the similar tastes. But we are alike in a way that we like to be considerate and careful towards each other".

We have asked Alex if they were dating for real. He answered with a laugh, "If we are, do you think I would tell you the truth?" "Maybe we (Alex & Shinae) might be the most realistic couple as people's love are all different".

Side Rant: So it is indeed true that the PD at WGM is biased! It's cool to have a general 'concept' for each of the couples but wouldn't it be better to also show more varied aspects of their 'married life'? I think that would generate more interest for the show than just maintaining one concept for each couple anyways.

Alshin was great before the separation, but now is just a bit... awkward?

She's stating Mr. Baseball had an affair. With Madonna. Not of a sexual nature. But an "affair of the heart". Yes, that's right. He cheated on her without "cheating" on her.

I don't think she's wrong for categorizing it as such, though. Now, if she's falsely accusing him then that's a different story altogether but if he is trying to get with Madonna and he's a married man, then hell yes, he's cheated. Point, blank, period.

People are telling me, "Oh but he didn't put his ball in her glove" .... oh, bloody hell. FOHWTS. You don't have to steal third base (or home plate?) to be a cheater, but here is the problem. EVERYONE'S definition of cheating is different. Some people don't consider flirting cheating. Some people don't think kissing is cheating. Some people don't think having an ON-LINE AFFAIR is cheating. My definition is: "Anything you cannot do in the presence of your significant other is betrayal and cheating."If you can't flirt in front of your partner - you're cheating. If you can't kiss the opposite sex in front of your partner - you're cheating. If you can't/won't/don't let your partner see explicit convos, emails or notes that you've sent to a member of the opposite sex - you're a cheater. Makes sense to me. I'd love to hear other people's definitions, especially if they greatly differ.

Of course you then get into the whole notion of what's flirting vs. what isn't and I suppose that's where communication in your relationship comes in. You need to speak up and discuss these things before you get your heart too involved in someone else. A lot of dramas and arguments can be avoided this way. It's basically the easiest way to not having problems. Communication in a relationship is key. At least in my opinion.

Today I asked "him", "if I was to sleep with another woman, would that be considered cheating?" For the record, I'm not gay (I'm with him) or bi-sexual (though, I find women and their bodies incredibly sexy) but I just wanted to see what his answer would be. He replied: "It'd be cheating no more than if i was to sleep with another man *barf*".(lol) I got my answer loud and clear. I teased him and said: "Got it. So long as you aren't there or involved, sleeping with a woman is cheating."

Believe it or not, I've had some people disagree. They say a roll in the hay with a member of the same sex isn't cheating. Can you believe that one!? Apparently, because there is no penile to vagile penetration, it's not cheating. Word? If you give yourself physically, emotionally or spiritually (with the exception of God) to anyone but your spouse you are low down and dirty. A snake, even. Don't kid yourself.

Being faithful is really hard for some people. I don't understand the need to be unfaithful. Especially if you say you love who you're with. I'd have more respect for someone if they told me they had lost interest and broke up with me before they cheated. I then have the CHANCE to try and make it right or better somehow. If I can't salvage it, then sure, I'm hurt but at least I'm not played, you feel me?
This whole idea of "there is no pussy/dick like new pussy/dick" is nothing more than a sad and sorry excuse. If you are putting it down PROPER on your partner ... then no amount of new dick or pussy is going to make them stray. This is why I say, ladies, don't be a hoe in the streets but be your MAN'S hoe. Keep him satisfied. Release your inner freak. If he cheats, don't let it be because you have a 'lax pussy. Gentleman .... the same goes for you. (But exchange the word pussy for dick, of course. Ha!)

Cheating this day in age is just much too dangerous. There are too many diseases and infections blowing around in the wind. I'm quite paranoid about them and refuse to put myself in that position. Then of course is the problem of an unwanted pregnancy. You just have to be RESPONSIBLE. If you don't want a relationship, don't be in one. Simple, right? Yea, I think so, too. No one forces you to settle down. Just have respect - that is all. Respect for someone else ... besides yourself.

I learned this in kindergarten: "Treat others the way you would like to be treated."Some people need to go back to kindergarten to re-learn some things.

Man, all you need to do is TALK about what cheating is to you. Talk about what the different levels are, if applicable. Avoid the problems and say no to temptation. That hottie with the phat ass .. or that cutie with the solid pecs ...... they could be burnin'. Know this. Don't bring that crap home to the person you say you love.

Otherwise, I can be your first grade school teacher all over again.

This Saturday playing the rest of the Ian Foster's CD whose interview I played last week. Yes the CD got thru customs and arrived on Monday.  Talk about bad luck last week with it not arriving in time.  Wasn't the company's fault just customs being a pain as usual.  It's a Compact Disc people why do you need to keep that at the border?  Try to get music legally and this is what you have to deal with. ha ha.

Also playing some new tracks from the new 'Your Favorite Enemies' CD.  I interviewed Alex Foster last fall for those who remember.  Nope, no relation with Ian.  The band's music video has been getting some play on Musique Plus in Quebec.  That's the french version of MuchMusic, who used to play music videos. Now it's mostly bad TV shows.  Except 'Video on Trial', that's usually good.

'Open Your Eyes' has been the 'Combat des Clips' champion for 2 weeks now.  Same title as a show Much had on years ago.  I remember 'Enter Sandman' going for something like 13 weeks straight.  There was this old technology in the days before email or text messaging.  Called a 1-900 number.  Oooooh.

Alex, "Live to love and to date"

Alex In the recent interview with Marie Claire titled, "Love, live to love", what Alex said attracted attention. This Romantic Guy, Alex, from MBC Sunday night, "We Got Married", seems not to make a big deal out of those articles concerning him full with the media's excessive gossip about "intimacy" issues.

"Love is important in dating," Alex said, "I live to love and to date," as he told this, his words attracted media's attention. "How could I live in fear of expressing my thoughts? Wouldn't it actually be like what fake is?" He added, "My first solo album, My Vintage Romance also highlights who Alex is."

"But when I had to leave, there was a lot of controversy about it. Instead of choosing the concept of the album with what I think of love and the memories of the past love, that it is the program's popularity that I'm trying to take (advantage of)," he said. But the fact is that because of public's attention, and the popularity of the program, there was only enough time to produce an album.

In addition to that, Alex, who actually been working on the concept of his album since last year, said that the recording has all been completed, before he left the program.

(So it wasn't because he had to use his popularity in WGM to promote his album, but he really wanted to take some time off to really prepare for the release date. Being Alex, he wanted to make sure he did everything right, which is of course, understandable. This album is like his first baby; it's his first solo album after debuted as an artist.)

He added, "At first I wanted to explain, but if I say anything, would it stop people's misconception about the album? I don't think so." (On TV, in terms of being a man, Alex is potrayed as this man with many aspects to consider of, as if when a person watches the program, it'll bring them the impact. But it backfires and as we know, he often gets the blame for it.)

This week has been challenging but certainly more fruitful and gratifying. I finally came up with a temporary solution for my voice, that is - I decided to have a little help from a friend named Peter. He is a Text To Speech "TTS" engine and what a relief he's been for my voice.

Now Peter introduced a new challenge, and it was to learn a new technology, how to use it and adapt it to my needs. I have to play for a while with him and teach him a couple of things like how to pause. We work on his speech pitch, speed and yes on his pronunciation.

Then it was time to get dirty. I had to work on the music and the sound that meant editing, mixing, cutting, normalizing, noise reduction and a whole lot of other things that I can't remember right now.

I'm going to let you hear the first "raw" going and then you'll be able to compare it to the edited version so you can get an idea and hear the difference. Sorry to put you thru this! - But I think it's necessary to get a good perspective of the process.

Creativity was definitely my best partner as I went along with the process. Also, the following:

Alex vs. Horan prepare a "Training Run" event along the banks of Han River

On July 21, the two people, Alex and Horan will hold a running showdown event near the Han river, Seoul, through the "The Human Race Training Run" in preparation of Nike's world biggest one day running event on August 31. (more info here)

This coming Monday, July 21 at 5:00 PM, in Yeouido district, the Seoul participants can both do the training run and also meeting with these two Clazziquai's members who have been doing their own activities after their latest album came out end of last year. Alex and Horan will each lead their own teams and challenge each other in this "Training Run" event. This event attracts many interests from the fans because it's like a surprise reunion for the fans to see Alex and Horan in an event together. Especially because they both have been doing their own activities, Alex with his new album "My Vintage Romance", and Horan with her own acoustic group, Ibadi.

And next month, on August 31, Nike's biggest one day running event called "Nike+ 10K Human race" will be held in Seoul, along with the rest 25 cities and 100 million people around the world. This 10k event will span multiple continents and cover 25 cities, including LA, New York, London, Madrid, Paris, Istanbul, Melbourne, Shanghai, Sao Paulo and Vancouver. Following races in each city, participants will be treated to an exclusive music concert featuring one of today's top artists.

Each city's race will start on the same day, with the first race kicking off in Taipei and the last ending in LA. Race courses take runners by famous landmarks such as the famed LA Coliseum, Taipei 101 (the world's tallest building), Mexico City's historic center and the Puerta del Sol in Madrid. Istanbul's race course will span the city's famous Bosphorus Bridge, closing it to car traffic to literally allow participants to run from Europe to Asia and back again.

Alex and Horan hope that many young people would want to participate in this event also. This will be a good way to challenge each other outside their own individual activities, making music and doing their own thing. Alex said that by doing this event with a dear friend outside Clazziquai's activities, it'll give them a chance to challenge each other in a positive, healthy way.

(True. What more challenging than running together in a big event like this? I agree, this is indeed such a great idea for them both to be doing this event. If only I live in Seoul, keke. The Nike+ 10K Human Race event is pretty cool too. For US residents, check this site out for more info.)
