The project I hope to collaborate with various people on is the promotion of a band.  This band is comprised of a group of friends that have been pursuing music for a few years.  I'm hoping to get the "groupies" (friends of the band members) together and collaborate with them on promoting the band.  Now that LIS 768 has taught me several social networking sites and techniques, I feel that I'm better prepared to take on this project and inform my fellow groupies of the various ways to spread the word.  I'm excited to use Twitter as an advertising tool.  With all the technology and sites devoted to social networking, it is easier than ever to promote bands and businesses.  The work is now how to advertise your space.  Everyone has jumped on the band wagon (pun intended), the challenge is now how to set yourself apart from the millions out there doing the exact same thing.

Diese Situation bringt mich dazu, endlich mal das aufzuschreiben, was ich schon seit Wochen tun will.

Im richtigen Leben, also im Leben vor dem und ohne den Krebs, bin ich Medizinstudentin. Mit mäßigem Erfolg seinerzeit, aber wenigstens im Herzen immer voll dabei. In dem Frühjahr, als Michaels Diagnose kam, habe ich - nach nur sieben Semestern *hust* - darüber nachgedacht, im Sommer endlich einen Teil des Physikums zu machen. Dann kam die Diagnose und somit war der Traum fürs erste ausgeträumt. Im vergangenen Frühjahr, als Michael noch ganz gut dabei war, habe ich versucht, das Ruder noch mal rumzureißen, habe auf einen Schein gelernt, nicht bestanden und ziemlich bald danach ging es mit Michael talwärts, so dass an Lernen überhaupt nicht mehr zu denken war.

Inzwischen habe ich den Traum, eines Tages im weißen Kittel unterwegs zu sein, nahezu aufgegeben. Ich habe erst mit 33 angefangen zu studieren, wollte mit 41 oder 42 fertig sein, eine sehr romantische Vorstellung. Das ist jetzt nicht mehr zu schaffen, und letztlich wird es in naher Zukunft einfach am Finanziellen scheitern. Ich baue jedoch auf einen Lottogewinn und werde so lange wie möglich eingeschrieben bleiben.

Auch wenn ich mit den erlangten Scheinen genau gar nichts anfangen kann, so hat mir das Studium bis dahin im Bezug auf Michaels Krankheit sehr viel gebracht. Ich konnte jeden Arztbrief lesen, ohne im Lexikon nachzuschlagen. Ich hatte gelernt, wie man sinnvoll recherchiert. Erwähnte ich den Ärzten gegenüber, dass ich Studentin bin, wurde ganz anders mit mir bzw. uns geredet. Selbst der Biologieschein, der so eine Qual über drei Semester war, hatte schließlich einen Sinn, denn ich stand nicht wie der Ochs vorm Berg, als es darum ging, die Funktionsweise von Zytostatika zu verstehen.

Das wichtigste für die augenblickliche Situation jedoch waren die Pflegepraktika. Jeder Medizinstudent muss für drei Monate auf einer pflegerischen Station arbeiten, natürlich nicht gegen Geld, wo kämen wir denn da hin. Als ich in diesen Zeiten drinhing, habe ich mich nach dem Sinn gefragt. Schon nach dem ersten Monat wusste ich, wie eine Station funktioniert, wie Schwestern funktionieren ;), wie man mit Patienten (oder in meinem Fall Patientinnen, da ich auf der operativen Gynäkologie war) umgeht und alles das. Die Zeit war sehr anstrengend für mich. Ich hatte nach gnädiger Absprache nur Frühdienste und keine Wochenenden, aber selbst an fünf Werktagen am Stück um fünf Uhr aufstehen, dann acht Stunden arbeiten und anschließend noch Kinder, Mann und Haushalt versorgen war nicht leicht. Insbesondere der letzte Praktikumsmonat war ein totaler Schlauch, es gab viele schwierige Patientinnen in der Zeit und außerdem Streß im Team. Kurzum, der Sinn, den das für mich haben sollte, erschloss sich mir damals nicht wirklich.

Heute bin ich froh über diese Zeit, weil mir die Pflege eines schwer kranken Menschen nicht fremd ist. Jegliche Art von Körperflüssigkeiten löst in mir nichts aus (wenn man einmal von einer alten Dame mit Blaseninfekt in die Schuhe gepinkelt bekommen hat, ist einem nichts menschliches mehr fremd, ehrlich). Zeitliche Abläufe, Dinge dokumentieren, richtig mit dem Pflegedienst kommunizieren, alles das ist nicht neu und daher hilfreich für mich.

Eben während eines dieser Praktikumsmonate passierte etwas, das mir heute insoweit hilft, als ich auch in Michaels schweren Schmerzsituationen nicht die Nerven verliere. Es ist der Tunnelblick, so nenne ich das.

Während meines zweiten Praktikumsmonats durfte ich unter Anleitung und Aufsicht eines Arztes bei einer Patientin, der gerade wegen Brustkrebs eine Brust operativ entfernt worden war, eine Drainage ziehen. Das war ziemlich aufregend, weil der gemeine Pflegepraktikant zwar gerne Bettpfannen ausspülen darf, aber ärztliche Dinge für ihn eher Seltenheitswert haben. Ich begab mich also in Position, sagte der Frau, dass es gleich vielleicht ein wenig ziepen werde und dann ...

Ich kann das gar nicht richtig beschreiben. Es war auf einmal so, dass ich gar nicht mehr die ganze Frau sah. Ich sah nur die Drainage, die zu ziehen war, konzentrierte mich, darauf bedacht, der Frau keine Schmerzen zuzufügen, und entfernte den Schlauch. Als der draußen war, ging der Tunnel wieder auf und alles war wie vorher. Das war ein seltsames und zugleich sehr aufregendes Gefühl. Ich erlebte das später noch mal, als es an wesentlich unspannendere Dinge ging.

Und ich glaube, das ist auch das, was mir hier passiert, wenn Michael mitten in einer Schmerzattacke ist. Der Tunnel kommt und ich sehe das gar nicht so richtig, habe Abstand, so als würde ich es durch ein Fenster beobachten. Wie gesagt, es ist ganz schwer zu beschreiben. Der einzige Unterschied zu dem Tunnelblick bei fremden Menschen ist, dass man bei denen auch hinterher ruhig bleibt. Das ist hier natürlich nicht immer der Fall. Aber das ist ok, solange ich den klaren Kopf in der Akutsituation bewahre.

Das war jetzt ein ziemlich langer Text, aber wie ich schon sagte, die Bruchstücke dafür habe ich schon seit mehreren Wochen im Kopf. Hier ist also endlich die Endfassung.

Und wer bis hierhin durchgehalten hat, der soll auch wissen, dass ich diesen Blogeintrag einer meiner liebsten Patientinnen aus dem Praktikum widme. Sie hatte metastasierenden Brustkrebs im Endstadium und ich habe sie so gut umsorgt, wie es eben ging. Während ich ihr die sich von der Chemotherapie schälenden Füße massierte, haben wir viele schöne Gespräche geführt, auch gelacht und gerne gelästert. Mein Praktikum ging zu Ende, sie blieb in der Klinik. Wenige Tage später rief mich eine der Schwestern an (das ist jetzt petzen, aber egal), dass die Frau im Sterben liege, wenn ich sie noch mal sehen wollte, solle ich bald kommen. Ich ging hin und besuchte sie. Sie erkannte mich, obwohl sie schon ziemlich ab war. Und sie sagte zu mir: 'Sie müssen mir versprechen, dass sie Ihr Studium zu Ende machen. Sie werden eine gute Ärztin sein.'

Sie starb einen Tag danach.

Tut mir leid, liebe Frau S., dass ich mein Versprechen nun doch nicht halten kann, ich hätte es verdammt gerne getan.

Palin is just "a stewardess" and "snarling bitch", snarled TV star Bill Maher.

Here's "comedian" Sarah Bernhard, as reported by NewsBusters: Palin would be "gang-raped by my black brothers" if she came to New York.

It is almost beyond mind-boggling to watch and hear women denigrate Palin, and worse.  The vicious assaults on her character, her politics, go beyond any all reason, launching into such vitriol as to deny her very personhood.

Sarah Palin can't possibly be a woman and be prolife!  She can't possibly be intelligent and conservative!  She can't possibly be serious and confess Christ!

Therefore, she is a legitimate target!  Shoot her!  And the mob lurches to the drumbeat of hate, real hate, deep hate, torches and pitch forks in hand.

These are crimes against humanity.  This is the real face of fascism.  This will eventually lead to serious violence.  It's only a matter of time.  The attacks on Sarah Palin are demonic.

Madonna and Weaver and Goldberg and Berhard are reprobate:  unprincipled, depraved, corrupt, morally bankrupt, beyond rescue, anathema. (Look it up.)

Best way to confront these snakes?   Vote McCain/Palin!  And pray for them, for the Lord is slow to anger, but it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

PS:  One explanation for the rage these women express toward Sarah Palin---Many of them have had abortions.  They cannot process the deep guilt they feel.  It eats at them.  The conscience is at war with the mind.  Consequently, they lash out at her.  Too bad they refuse to come back from the dark side, and receiving healing at the Cross.

Katanya, ini perlu dipastikan supaya bila tiba masanya kelak, BN akan kembali dengan kekuatan dan seterusnya mendapat sokongan rakyat yang selama ini menjadikan BN parti yang diyakini dalam mewakili pelbagai kaum.

The way the Wireless industry works when it comes it mobile applications is by way of revenue share. Independent developers crate BREW or Java applications develop programs and pitch them to carriers. The typical revenue share is 30-60%, where the carriers take the smaller portion. The carriers then place the application on their network and expose it to their customers.

On the WAP side of the house, the Walled Garden is the carrier portal where the carrier controls the sites available to their customers. Customers can usually navigate off deck if they choose, but the carriers do a pretty good job of knowing what types of service their customers want and serve it up to them, often at a premium price.

In order for an application developer to be successful on the carrier portal, the must simple show the carrier that they can generate more revenue than their competition, offer a better service, or offer a better revenue share.

For the entrenched content vendors who have been able to monopolize the carrier deck since inception, this is a threat. However, for newer developers this presents a great opportunity to bypass the carrier and hefty revenue share agreements and attract customers directly.
