Candace is a professional model, web hostess, fashion designer and all-around cool chick.

Candace worked for Savvy.com as both the face of the website as well as one of the site admins. Savvy put Candace in charge of art direction, deciding which models to hire and the arrangement of their photo spreads.

Candace Recently left Savvy in June of 2008 to pursue other opportunities in modeling and publishing, including the launch of her own website www.Candacerae.net and designing her own line of lingerie.

Candace has the top ranked blogcast on www.Blogtv.com. She has gained representation from Ingenue Model Management, which is one of the premiere model marketing and management companies in Las Vegas; this opens the door for her to do more print, commercial and catalog modeling as well as spokes model work, event hosting and more.

Well, the new site has been rolled out and the excitement about this new site is huge. This is the first true social networking, or web 2.0, website dedicated to female models.

Members have complete control over their experience. They can import photos directly from flickr, totally customise their modeling profile page and for those who take pictures on the run--they can send it directly from their cell phones to their Miss Online Profile page.

Unlike one model place, which restricts content pertaining to external sites, Miss Online invites it. When models sign up and create a profile, there are questions which ask to type in their OMP #, MM #, Myspace Page, etc. The creators are hoping that this strategy will lead to their website becoming the central login page for all models. Why send agents links to 10 different websites when you can just give them your Miss Online URL and all of that info is in the page.

The site is rich with user features from slideshows, to custom profile badges, widgets and, get this, MODEL TALK! They've just included the BETA release of Model Talk on the site. This is a chat room directly on the website where users can interact. Models can give and ask for advise from other models, or agents can discuss job details in real time with the model. No more emailing for days.

Oh, and did I mention --THE GIRLS ARE SMOKING HOT !

The winner of these years "Best new modeling website of 2008" goes to Miss Online.

This is a modeling social network which allows members to have full control and customization of their profile and photos. The site just announced the Beta version of its new website and we like what we see!

The new site, set for full release on February 28th, 2008 promises to be the facebook of modeling websites. Models can integrate their flickr photos to automatically appear on their profile, as well as a new facebook integration tool which will allow updates to be pinged back and forth between facebook and miss online....

Two American Idol contestants that are rumored to make the final 24 of this year’s competition have one thing in common: a background in modeling.Amy Davis, for example, has appeared in ads for Wild Turkey Liquor, Vonage and an assortment of other companies. As her modeling biography also states, Davis has served as the lead singer for a band called 6th Element, as well as a Pink Floyd tribute band called Echoes of Pompei.

Then there’s JoAnne Borgella.

This plus-sized model actually won the 2005 reality show Mo’Nique’s Fat Chance. She may attract a different sort of audience than Davis, but both contestants will be relying on more than just looks when fans pick up their phones.

They better be able to carry a tune.

Spain set to add meat to modeling

Volunteers offer 'real women' measurements

MADRID, SPAIN — Some 10,000 volunteers have undergone laser beam zapping to measure their actual shape as part of a pioneering project for Spanish designers to make clothes that fit real women, officials said Thursday.

The Health Ministry wants to standardize sizing, and it says retail chains already have signed on to follow the guidelines. The project is Spain's latest effort to fight the perception that thin equals beautiful — a belief widely blamed for encouraging eating disorders.

Last year, major fashion designers in Spain agreed to stop using storefront mannequins under a European size 38, which is equivalent to a size 8 in the United States. Madrid also banned ultra-thin models from fashion week runways in 2006...

There's a segment of television that has embraced the life and work of models: the Victoria's Secret specials, Tyra Banks' talk show (and Banks' series America's Next Top Model), Make Me a Supermodel, The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency and on it goes.

But at some point, we're going to run out of domestically developed models, or at least out of ones not famous enough to devote their time to dating NFL quarterbacks or making outrageous demands about how they will be portrayed.

So along comes Oxygen with the next best thing: an imported show with an imported model.

Janice and Abbey, premiering at 11 p.m. Tuesday on Oxygen, pairs the eccentric Janice Dickinson, self-proclaimed first supermodel, with Abbey Clancy, a Liverpudlian hoping to make it big in the modeling world.

The series originally aired in Great Britain in 2007, where Clancy got top billing.

She's not a huge name there. But she has gotten noticed — as the runner-up one season on Britain's Next Top Model, on magazine covers and as the WAG of soccer star Peter Crouch. (WAG is British tabloid shorthand for ''wives and girlfriends.'') Britain's Sun newspaper reported in November that Clancy was voted soccer's ''sexiest WAG'' in a poll.

But in the premiere episode of Janice and Abbey (which was also sneak-previewed last week after the season finale of The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency), Clancy is presented as a pretty, bubbly and semi-innocent young woman who needs model guidance from the more worldly Dickinson.

This guidance takes some bizarre turns, especially when Dickinson decrees that Clancy must stop smoking and work more on physical fitness to make it as a model.

"This is very adorable," said Anne V, a $14 million diamond necklace draped below her exquisite Russian visage. "I'm very happy."

She smiled, winked, nodded and made a little clicking sound.

"I like that!" exclaimed Meghan White, a New England Patriots cheerleader. "It's unbelievable."

I had long thought that I was alone in considering my faded, cornflower-blue swim trunks hot stuff.

But I won some proof of the trunks' irresistibility on Tuesday when I pulled them over my slacks and asked a dozen swimsuit models their opinion of my treasured garment, a J. Crew edition from the early part of this decade.

Just look at them, I said, throwing an unexpected challenge at the feet of these flawless beauties. Marvel at the delicate white stitching, the oversized drawstring, the nautical accents, the accommodating size.

And amid their prances through 7 World Trade Center to launch Sports Illustrated's 45th swimsuit issue, these slender Valentines bathed my suit in praise.
